"The items are sent nationwide as well as worldwide. Therefore, they need to be thoroughly tested." After the prototype is completed, it is sent to the packaging and preservation branch where the items are actually enclosed. Mr. Francis is enthusiatic when he discusses the nature of his job. "My position offers daily challenges; therefore, nothing is ever the same," he said. "It's satisfying to know that I, along with the people I work with, can solve their problem," Mr. Francis said. We make the prototype for that particular item." A lot of effort goes into making t? e containers, which are made of lumber, plywood or fiberboard. "We have to take into consideration such things as the item's material finish, its fragility, size and shape," he said. "An item's weight can range anywhere from a couple of pounds to a couple of tons. That tells you the diversity of the containers we build.
