V It was also one way to expose and try to educate AsianPacific people about possible employment on the base. Marion Hori, manager of the program, along with members of the subcommittee and Kay Watanabe of the civilian personnel office employment unit were in an information booth throughout the day. According to Ms. Hori, "We displayed slides of AsianPacific employees at their work sites on Hill. We also provided information on Is the availability of jobs." People in the booth also provided job interest cards to festival attendees to interest those who possessed the skills about seeking employment at the base. "These completed cards will become part of the Federal Equal Opportunity Recruitement Program file which will be reviewed as future job vacancies become available," Ms. Hori said. She said efforts of this type are sanctioned by the Office of Personnel Management in an attempt to cut underrepresentation of minority groups in the federal work force. "Special efforts such as this festival are necessary in reaching some members of these groups due to their cultural and language differences," Ms. Hori said.
