Show wi.v'jwr'"w y' " i- sports Ml 11 Dodoes , Hill AFB lady softballers split a trio of games last week, dropping their first game of the season in the Farm-ingto- n league to upstart Sparrows. The Falcons managed only three hits in the game, giving up a comfortable nest egg to the Sparrows. The Farmington team held Hill scoreless until the seventh inning when the Falcons tallied their only two runs. The adSparrows jumped out to a one-ru- n the in didn't first but inning, vantage score until the fourth with another Dse Hill trailed by two going into the fifth inning when the Sparrows tacked on another four. The backbreaker came in the sixth inning when Hill gave up eight runs. The Falcons weren't much more welcome in the Clearfield league last sports briefs week as they split a pair of games. OPBA overcame an 0 first inning deficit to down the Hill ladies. The Falcons chalked up eight runs in the first inning, but were unable to get back on the scoreboard until the fourth inning when they scored an additional three runs. OPB A managed five runs in the opener, adding four more in the second inning. Their bats were calm in the third inning, but tied the game in the fifth with a pair of runs. The Falcons were unable to hold off a sixth inning charge by OPBA, who scored a solo in the sixth to win. Hill batters were unable to get any extra-bas- e hits, but managed a dozen singles. Nancy Friederich and Connie Byro were tabbed as losing pitchers. Maxine Jenkins changed the Falcons' luck, claiming a win from the mound with an victory over Clearfield's Wizards. Fonda Bullis and Bonnie Stroder paced the Falcons from the plate with triples in the first and fourth innings respectively. Hill scored a pair of runs in the first inning, but neither team posted runs until the fourth inning when the Falcons erupted for four markers and the Wizards managed a pair. Hill stayed ahead in the fifth inning with a solo score when the Wizards came roaring back with four runs of their own. The Clearfield club battled back and tied the game in the sixth inning with a single run. Undaunted, Hill softballers put up the game winning mark in the seventh inning, holding the Wizards blank. 4th Tactical Fighter strafed Hospital 34-- 2 and Squadron EMS rounded out the 6514th TEST chasing after a share of the top spot. 34th Aircraft Maintenance Unit and 6514th TEST 1 both post 1 records and are looking to overthrow the league leader.
