Show Beaver City Council & Minutes The Beaver City Council met In regular session on May 3, 1988 at 4 .00 pjn. with the following mem-be- rs present: Mayor Robert H. Lee, Councilmembers Val Smith, James Robinson, Paul Anderson, Conrad Grlmshaw and Sam Hutchings. Also present was City Recorder Hal Leasing. City Manager Gordon Baker was absent until later In the evening. The Youth City Council, Miriam Limb, Advisor, Joe Benson, Mayor; Councilmembers RaCall Riley, Ben Robinson, Doug Riley, MallndaCar-ta- r. and Curtis Strong, and guest Brennon Leo, met with the City Council. Mayor Lee welcomed the group and encouraged tham to participate In City Council discussions. Mallnda Carter and Curtis Strong were absent. The minutes of the City Council meeting of April 19, 1988 were read. After Review, Counoilman Smith moved. Councilman Grlnshaw seconded, the minutest be approved as read and written. All voted In favor of the motion. The minutes of the Special City Council meeting of April 25, 1988 were read. After review, Councilman Grlmshaw moved, Councilman Anderson seconded the minutes be approved as read and written. All voted In favor of f'jt&V motion. All voted In favor of the motion. ' Mayor Lee opened the following labor bids for installation of the roof at the City Hall: Dave Reynolds Construction - $3,495.00; Ray Construction - $2,676.00. Kesler After review of the bids, Councilman Anderson moved, Councilman Smith seconded, Beaver City accept the apparent low bid of Ray Kesler Construction, providing all bid specifications have been met. Councilmembers Smith, Hutchings, Grlmshaw and Anderson voted In favor of the motion. Councilman Robinson voted against the motion. His reason for voting against the motion is that the time limit had not been specified In the bid as stated on the bid specifications. The motion carried by a majority vote. Mayor Lee reported on the Beaver Valley HospitalBeaver City purchase of the ParowanClinl?.The following Is a summary o the tentative conditions and agreements: After two months of study and review, the Beaver Valley Hospital Board unanimously voted to write a letter of Intent to Little Salt Lake Clinic Board to purchase the clinic at Parowan-Reasons: (a) Sincere belief that keeping and expanding the patient base of northern Iron County and possibly other areas in the ce7 to survivability of our hospital medical society, (b) 30 of patients at the Beaver Valley Hospital come from that area. (3) Doctors from Beiver are going to Parowan one day per week each for a total of two days per week, (d) The doctors will be . Minersville Town A regular meeting of the Minersville Town Council was held on Monday May 2, 1988, at 7:30 p.m. at the Minersville Town Hall. Susan Craw met with the Council to request permission for The Beaver Press to reprint the historical 'They Answered the Call." Mayor Truman reported that she contacted the BLM concerning the trash pile property. The new swimming pool was discussed. The clerk was instructed to write a letter to UP&L concerning the unresolved power bill explaining that the Town has never authorized UP&L to put the power in the Town's name and the Town has not accepted the pool as being complete. Copies of the letter are to be sent to Riley Construction and also to Comm. chad JobnsMi. The landscaping of the pool was discussed. The contractor is responsible for bringing in new top soil. As soon as the soil is in place we will be able to put the sprinklers and grass in. The Town is responsible to get the propane tank installed and to build any she -Ives or counters that will be needed. The plans for summer road work were discussed. The Town plans to chip the roads paved last year and to pave additional roads this year. We will do as much as funds permit. Approval was given to have two new electrical out -- lets installed In the Library. A request has been made to spray the creek for mesquitos. This will be done in a few months.
