At their regular meeting all volunteers had air pack training. Men pt on all their gear Including air packs and helmets, then the face shield on the helmets were taped over and the volunteers had to find their way through the High School. With the tape over the face shields It was like finding your way through a heavily smoked filled building. Also on the same night as their meeting some of the volunteers had to take a fire truck out to Wah Wah Valley where a track carrying oil had overturned. Ten hours were spent out there oo stand by while the oil was cleaned up and the trailer turned right side H. The Fire Department was there In case anything happened that may have set the oil spill on fire. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Don Elmer this past week were their dear friends Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Emptey of Pocatello, Idaho. Also here for the weekend were their son and wife, Gary and April Elmer from Panaca, Nevada. Gary was here to participate In the Alumni Tournament Friday and Saturday. The Girls Basketball finished up this week. A tournament was held aid Wednesday nights. Monday Krlsten and Arlan Mayer's team took first and Rick and Kathy Rose's team took second. All the girls had a great time and learned "a lot about basketball. Thanks, Coaches! Many fifth and sixth graders at the grade school are now attending a night class once a week at the school. Mr. Barnes Is teaching an advanced math class for any students interested. Mike and Lynette Webb of Las Vegas became the proud parents of"a baby boy last week. Lane was born on March 27 and weighed In at 7 lbs. 13 34 oz. Proud grandparents In Mllford are Joe and Verllne Yardley. Also, Barney and Carol Thompson became parents of a darling baby girl. She was, born March 30 and weighed In at 8 lb. 8 34 oz. She will be joined at home by a brother and a sister. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Albrecht and Mr.andMrs. Mack Thompson. A gun safety class Is now being offered at the grade school for all 12 year olds. Dennis Cox Is the instructor and urges everyone eligible to take this class. The Annual Pine Wood Derby was held last week In the Cultural Hall of the LDS Church. In Pack 3324, Brandon Bouck took first; Cody Smith, second; Patrick Latimer, third. In Pack 3325, Jason Powell, was first; Scott Bacon took second; and Mark Wiseman was third. Then Brandon Bouck took fourth In the district meet held on Saturday in Miners vllle. Staying at the home of Wayne and LucielHardyduringtheAlumnl Tournament were Paul and Attdry McGinn. Also visiting were Jerry and Jody Berger. Betty and John JLnenez, LuAna, Jackie and Daniel Walker, Braadi Jim Inez and Irene Stewart all went to St. George Saturday to visit and enjoy the sunshine with Betty and John's daughter Cindy Lang and family. On Sim day Jerry and Cathy Jim Inez and family went down; and everyone enjoyed a picnic at the park to celebrate two birthdays Cindy's and her son's Bryan. LaRea and Max Stewart and LaRea's aunt and uncle Frank and Norma Peterson of Le wist on, Idaho went to Los Angeles recently to visit with relatives there. LaRea Teacher Profile: Lynn Richard Brads haw was born in Beaver, Utah, the son of LaVel and Ilynn Brads haw. He was raised In Manderfleld with two older brothers and four younger brothers and sisters. He spent his youth learning to work on the farm. He attended school in Beaver where he was active In F.F.A., track, and livestock judging. He served an LDS mission to the West Central States. Lynn Is married to the former Glenna Harris and they are the parents of seven children: Denise who Is attending SUSC; Dwayne who Is serving a mission; Pamela Bret and Darren who are attending Beaver High; Vlckllyn(she's In her Dad's class) and April at home.
