Morin Thefts Security Police Squadron Vandalism, thefts, drinking drivers, accidents and other incidents kept Security Police members busy last week. Vandalism - During the weekend, unknown persons went on a rampage of building 523 and vandalized different items on three floors. A smoke detector, telephone, fire bell, exit sign, light cover, bulbs and a drinking fountain were damaged. When the - drinking fountain was examined a pistol was found hidden inside. The item was confiscated and turned over to the Security Police Armory for safe keeping. Vandals struck again in the Base Exchange parking lot damaging a privately owned vehicle. In another incident, windows and glass on gauges to machinery in the Army power plant were broken. In yet another incident, a tire was punctured on a vehicle parked adjacent to building 332. Thieves were active in building 505 where a radio valued at $125 was taken. In building 1234 a condensing unit valued at $1,000 was missing. A military jacket was taken from the pool room in building 351 and a wallet removed from three arrest warrants on him. Civil authorities were contacted, responded to the base and took custody of the individual. The vehicle was impounded by the State of Utah for further processing. A woman' .was apprehended in the men's dormitory. parked adjacent to building 521. A pair of skis were taken from a vehicle in parking lot 1 and in parking lot' 25, headlight rims were removed from a parked truck. A retired military member and his wife were apprehended for retail theft "shoplifting" at the Base Exchange. They were charged and issued a Federal Magistrate, ticket to appear in federal court next month. Drinking and driving Apprehensions stray animals. A vehicle entered the base last week and the driver . failed to stop at the direction of the sentry. After Security Police responded, the vehicle was stopped in the east area. A check with the operator failed to produce proper identification of the vehicle, and further investigation showed the operator had Three military members and two civilians were apprehended for driving under the influence of liquor. All were charged and released to proper authorities. One of the drivers caused an accident. Animal complaints Police Headquarters, building 1219, or to call Ext. 63056 to have it picked up. Vehicle accidents r Nine vehicle accidents were reported with a total of more than $1,400 in damages. As a word of caution, good weather will be here soon, but please be careful when operating vehicles. Watch out for the other guy. Miscellaneous Police were called to the hospital emergency room to assist meaicai personnel in confiscating a controlled substance from an unconscious patient. h inspection of During a building 351, the military working dog team of Mick and Sergeant Battgenbach received an alert on a room. The area was secured, authority for search granted and explosive residue was found Investigation revealed that the occupants work with " munitions in their career field. Police investigated a ' report on a traffic complaint from a base housing resident and responded to a vehicle fire walk-throug- Police responded to Area C housing three times last week and picked up five The officers who responded were injured with bites and scratches when they attempted to pick up the animals. Lost and found A ring with diamonds was reported missing in the base gym.
