Trials for the track team started with a training camp at the Air Force Academy in Colorado. "The training camp was a super good deal," commented Nickerson. "You were basically on your own to train as you saw fit. Even though the trip was officially a permissive TDY, the track team funds paid for meals, lodging and transportation," he said.
