Show porfs Wrestler reflects A helicopter mechanic in the 6514th Test Squadron recently returned after participating with the Air Force Wrestling Team at the Interservice Championships at Little Creek, Va. A1C Gerard Chaloux attended the Air Force Wrestling Camp at Boiling AFB, Wash., D.C., where he trained, exercised and dieted to get in shape for the competition. "Training started the day I arrived," ' he said. "The weather was unusually warm which made the morning runs bearable," he added. "The trainees got up each morning at 7:30 a.m. and went for a two-milrun. I started the training on the day I arrived with a four-mil- e jog. After the run, we did various calisthenics and practiced wrestling techniques and moves. "The team practiced two times a day for two hours each session, five days a week and was required to run eight miles every weekend. "Diet was foremost for everyone on the team, with exception of the 111 NUT & """it mw t 'mi1 Page 25 Aral GU0GD on heavyweights. There were 10 weight classes ranging from 105V2 to 220 pounds. Seventy percent of the team had to lose anywhere from 10 to 20 pounds. I lost 19 in the three week period, so I could wrestle in the 136 pound weight class. "At the end of the training camp the team was transported to the Interservice Championship site where only four of the Air Force wrestlers were able to place in the top three. The Marines dominated the tournament. "Even though I didn't place," Chaloux said, "the training camp and competition were well worth the effort. And everything was compliments of the Air Force. All I did was fill out an application and mail it to the proper authorities through the base recreation office," he added.
