Show HILL TOP TIMES August 1, 1980 rDD(S0S ft Security police begin issuing new decals to officers, enlisted and civilian - employees Monday as vehicles are registered in a Department of Defense-wid- e program. The new decals will be good for all DoD installations while still identifying the issuing base. The reregistration will also allow security police to efficiently automate record-keepin- g procedures. Cars, trucks, vans, campers and other recreational vehicles, motorcycles and mopeds must all be registered in the new system, said Lt. Col. Donald E. Trombley, chief of 2849th Security Police Squadron A specially designated van will travel to various work sections on base to complete the registration. Every vehicle driver will be given an AF Form 533 in the work section which must be completed and signed by the person before registering a vehicle. Signature on the form also is your statement that you have insurance and that you know Air Force and base registration requirements, Colonel Trombley said. To fill out the registration form, complete all the blocks on the front except those for the decal numbers. On the back of the registration form, be sure to include the vehicle's serial number. If you can't find it, ask the security police to help before you are in line to be registered. Also, registrants must have with them a valid driver's license and the current vehicle registration, and a military or civilian identification card. employee " DoD requires periodic recertif ication of vehicle registration, so when you get a decal it will have an expiration month and' year. The dates will vary so that not all vehicles will need to be reregistered at the same time Lwo or three years from now, Colonel Trombley said. The decals will still be color-code- d to rapidly identify officers, enlisted and civilians. Officers will remain blue, airmen red, NCOs yellow, but civilians will change from white to green. Individuals will be able to register up to three vehicles for access to the base in order to allow families with more than one car, or cars and a motorcycle, for example, not to be - SfD alSsD8 WKBQF TQW limited to one mode of transportation to get on base. Newcomers to the base will be automatically registered in the new system when they go through normal Page Retired military in the surrounding communities will be registered after the bulk of current base workers, along with weekend reservists and others with official but onlv occasional need to come to the base.
