Show HILL TOP TIMES Page 8 August 3. 1979 Family services needs help Judging from the number of people working in Family Services these days, volunteerism is on the decline. There are 1,200 fewer volunteers in the organization than there were two years ago a 24 percent drop. To quote one Family Services coordinator, "We're hurting. We've got to have more people." THE VOLUNTEERS' JOB is as tough today as it ever has been. Air Force families are still on the move. Added to the usual hassles of relocating to a new base are the fuel shortage and the resulting problem of getting household goods moved. Homes are hard to find, costs are skyrocketing and mortgage money is tight. That means longer stays in temporary quarters on permanent change of station moves. And it makes Family Services' job of helping Air Force people relocate more important than ever. Whether you're leaving or arriving, volunteers can help. Their guides, maps and base brochures will help with ' house-huntin- shopping and g, locating schools. Volunteers help with orientation briefings to inform family members about the rights, benefits and privileges at their new base and in the Air Force.
