Would they have received credit to my account on payday if the postal strike had taken place? ANSWER: If you are military, credit to your account would have been transmitted from the Accounting and Finance Center at Denver, CO through the Electronic Funds Transfer System used by the Federal Reserve. This guarantees your account is credited on payday. If you are civilian and you bank in the local area your payroll check will be picked up by the applicable financial institution or hand delivered by Accounting and Finance personnel. If you bank outside the local area, special arrangements have been made through the bank to distribute deposits to your account through the banking system. on-ba- se QUESTION: My check is mailed to my local residence. How would I obtain it during a postal strike? ANSWER: If you are military, the check would be delivered to your unit organization. The member would be responsible for obtaining the check from his organizational commander. For civilians, the checks would be distributed to the organizational level designated by your directorate office. The employee would be responsible for reporting and obtaining his payroll check from the designated official. event of postal sirs tie ANSWER: Your payroll check will be delivered through the Postal Service using their Contingency Plan. Since they will be operating with less than a full compliment of employees, delays in deliveries must be anticipated. QUESTION: If I am on leave, how do I obtain my check when it goes to my local residence? ANSWER: The employee or military member must report to the applicable organization and secure his pay check. QUESTION: I am a military member. What about my allotments sent out of the Accounting and Finance Center at Denver. CO? QUESTION: If I cannot report can I send someone else? ANSWER: The only way we can deliver the payroll check to a third party is if they have Power of Attorney signed by the ANSWER: Allotments will be delivered through the United States Postal Service, but may only reach the postal substations. The recipient may be required to pick up the allotment check at the substation after showing proper applicable employee or military member. QUESTION: How long will a check be retained by the organization? What QUESTION: ANSWER: The check will be retained by the organization for a period of 24 hours and then returned to Paying and Collecting (ACFP), Building 1238. It is the military member's or employee's responsibility to obtain the check from Paying and Collecting within the following seven days. ANSWER: If you are military, they will be held by the Accounting and Finance Center at Denver, CO. Civilian bonds will be held at the local Accounting and Finance Office. All bonds will be delivered after the settlement of the postal strike. ANSWER: Every attempt will be made to deliver the paycheck to the applicable military member or civilian employee. The Accounting and Finance Office will use Military Air and-o- r Pouch Mail whenever possible. However, you may assume that your paychecks cannot be delivered on the routine payday. QUESTION: What will happen to my civilian allotment going to a savings institution? QUESTION: I am a civilian on medical retirement and still receiving a full payroll check because I have several thousand hours of sick leave. I do not live in the local area. How will I obtain my check? ANSWER: The Federal Employees Credit Union allotments are picked up and transmitted by commercial plane to central processing in California.
