I am a vice president in AFGE. I have observed a great deal of attention paid to the Air Force Association (AFA) in recent Hill Top Times. I would like to know why the Hill Top Times is used to promote a organization, such as the AFA, and this same latitude is not afforded to the union and other representative organizations such as the Sergeants Association on Hill AFB? I would also challenge the Air Force and the Hill Top Times for this attention paid to AFA under the equal treatment and equal provisions of representative organizations under Executive Order 11491. You allow them the right to use the newspaper, free of charge and to provide special privileged articles to them and yet these are not afforded to the Sergeants Association and other organizations such as AFGE. We too, are involved currently in a membership drive. a 1 o anonymous. are expending a great number of hours in human A The Air Force has long been convinced of the importance of individual attitudes and behavior, as they influence major decisions and work patterns vital to its interests. This is reflected in the Social Actions philosophy which states that mission accomplishment depends on individual efficiency. As studies have shown, people are most productive when their interpersonal relations are stable and positive, at home and on the job, which is an objective of human relations training. While this increased productivity is sometimes difficult to measure, it certainly brings tangible results. Some of these are reduced sick leave, lower accident rates, less supervisory time spent on work force problems, increased receptiveness to training and supervision and a greater appreciation of the team concept and the organizational goal or mission. The Inspector General's Office, for Union news is also covered in the Federal Times. Air example, attributes the 27 per cent decrease in congressional inquiries last year to increased personal communications resulting from human relations training. In short, people who are trained to interact with others on a personal and understanding basis make better workers and better supervisors and that benefits everyone. 9 Q er unions do. The union does print its own base publication, in addition to members receiving newsletters both monthly and weekly from AFGE Force Regulation 190--7 specifically prohibits base newspapers from editorial endorsement or criticism of union actions and states that "recruiting or discouraging union membership should be avoided." As for base newspaper support of the Air Force Association recruiting drive, Air Force Manual 190-designates AFA as a "Special Group," independently established as a nonprofit corporation, open to everyone - officer, NCO, airman and civilian and espousing the objectives of the Air Force and aerospace technology. As such, AFA is to be provided full information support. AFA supports a better Air Force for everyone, member and alike. It does not handle the personal grievances of its members regarding pay and working conditions, as labor A There seems to be a problem with the beer machines at the golf course. We are continually losing our money in them. Could something be done to correct this problem? The beer companies changed the size of their cans which has caused a iamming problem in all beer dispensing machines. On April 12, 1977, new shims were COOOOOOOOCOCCOO! FACTORY DEMO SPECTACULAR Q A noticed on April 11 that the golf course was being watered, yet we cannot water our yards in the base housing area. What is the reason for this? I Your concern in regards to the watering of lawns is appreciated. During April, Civil Engineering personnel were servicing and testing all underground sprinkler systems to insure that they were operational. Policies for watering of the golf course, which utilizes nonpotable water, have not been set yet. A meeting will be held soon to formulate policies in regards to use of irrigation type water for recreational areas. Policies for watering in other areas were published in the Hill Top Times April 15, 1977. I would like to know why I can't get the items I want in Q the quantities I want at the Clothing Sales Store? For example, I wanted to buy one set of stripes but had to buy a package with two sets. I also tried to buy a polyester blouse and was told that I would also have to purchase the trousers. I already have three good sets of trousers. What can be done to alleviate this situation? A Blister packs of insignia can be broken and sold in single sets if the customer desires. Also, Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) items of clothing can be sold singly. Commercially procured polyester uniforms are purchased and sold as uniform sets primarily to keep yard good and color continuity. Additionally, a customer can special order the blouse, trousers, women's slacks or shirts separately. The Military Clothing Sales Store (MCSS) also keeps limited quantities of popular size trousers, slacks and shirts on hand for single item Dave's Treasure Chest AND AUCTION THE FACTORY REPS (BEE AMDD be in our Store to Help You SAT.
