Show : u i; 2 Page HILL TOP TIMES May 14. 11)70 B my Messages Commemorate Pride In Military My pride in serving as Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force is particularly strong during Armed Forces Week when America pays special tribute to all who serve in uniform. I am proud of the men and women in the Air Force who have performed faithfully and courageously in the service of our country since the earliest days of aviation. Although the Air Force has been a separate service for less than 30 years, this Bicentennial Year echoes the valiant deeds of our members, past and present. I am also proud to report to the American people that the Air Force is well prepared, helping to insure the freedom and of our great nr'ion. As we face the challenges of our third century, the men and women of the Air Force can hold their heads high with justifiable pride. It is your professionalism, your countless sacrifices, your dedication and your spirit of readiness that provides the strength necessary to keep America strong and well-bein- g free. "As the more than 200 million Americans commemorate the 200th anniversary of our nation this year, it is fitting that we of the Air Force Logistics Command pause to recognize our role in helping the United States reach its bicentennial. And by "we" I mean the 85,0000 civilians and the 8,000 military who provide our country with a realistic deterrent force by keeping USAF aircraft and missiles ready for combat. The theme of Armed Forces Week 1976 is "Honor America," and we of AFLC honor America daily through our dedicated, professional logistics support of the entire Air Force. Although AFLC, through ancestor organizations, has existed for only 54 years, AFLC and its people have contributed significantly during these relatively few years to the nation's history and security. I am confident that we will continue to work diligently for further peace and prosperity as we "Honor America" during Armed Forces Week and beyond." F. Michael Rogers General. USAF Commander DAVID C. JONES General. USAF Chief of Staff Armed Forces Week is traditionally set aside by Americans to salute the men and women who proudly serve their country. In this Bicentennial Year it is fitting to note that the most important social service a democratic government can provide its citizens is to keep them free. The American people can look back with pride to two centuries of dedicated service from our men and women in uniform. Our country's freedom was not easily won nor can it be maintained without courage and dedication. Air Force personnel have contributed greatly in the protection of this freedom, and I am proud to salute each of you and your families for your constant sacrifice and dedication. I welcome the opportunity to join Americans everywhere in honoring all of our men and women of the Air Force.
