Show Page HILL TOP TIMES 18 June 28, 1974 Hobson golf tournament Veteran golfer Jess Fugate had to do it in a sudden death playoff, but he managed to outlast the younger players to win the championship division of the Hobson Golf Tournament at the base course last Saturday. Fugate held in there to see Jim McGee go out on the second and finally, J. P. Lynch go out on the sixth hole in the playoff before he could claim his trophy. THE Hobson Golf Tournament is one of the largest to be held at the Hill AFB golf course. It began in 1961 and received its name from General Kenneth B. Hobson, former commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center. The tournament was open to all persons working on the base and their dependents. This year there were 120 participants in the two-da- y tournament. For this tournament, there were four flights for the men 36-hol- e, (Championship A, B and C) and one flight for the women. Results of the play were as follows: Championship Flight: 1, Jess Fugate, 151; 2, J.P. Lunch, 151; 3, Jim McGee, 151. flight Low Championship Net; Spence Cahoon, 136.2; Dick Bombard, 138; two tied for third place, Gordie Milne and Mike McComb, 139.
