Show June Force exploomis Nig Aoir WASHINGTON (AFNS) The Aviation Career Incentive Act of 1974 has been enacted by the President. Pilots, navigators and of- ficers in flying training, leading to a pilot or navigator ratings, are entitled to continuous monthly incentive pay meet they provided in time periods prescribed operational flying duty. Also, flight surgeons are entitled to monthly incentive pay when performing operational flying duty. OFFICERS who do not possess current aeronautical ratings, or who are not in flying training, are not entitled to pay under the act but may be entitled to hazardous duty incentive pay for frequent and regular flight at the rate of $110 a month. The act uses aviation serofficer service, vice, operational flying duty, and proficiency flying duty in defining the conditions under which entitlement to aviation career incentive pay is controlled. However, these factors will not immediately affect a pilot's or navigator's entitlement to incentive pay, as it is protected by saved-pa- y provisions. The saved-pa- y provisions entitle all pilots and navigators, except those suspended from flying status, to incentive pay from June 1, 1974, through May 31, 1977, centive pay for 22 years of officer service; Pilots and navigators completing 18 years of aviation service who have spent at least 11 years in operational flying duty are entitled to continuous incentive pay for 25 years of officer service. For purposes of this act, aviation service includes all time since entering pilot or navigator training leadingto first rating, or date of commission, whichever is later. Officer service consists of all service as a commissioned, warrant and flight officer; Pilots and navigators who have not spent enough time in operational flying duty regardless of operational flying duty credit of years of officer service. . AFTER May 31, 1977, only officers with less than 25 years of officer service who meet the following conditions will be entitled to continuous pay: All pilots and navigators are entitled to continuous incentive pay for their first 12 years of aviation service; Pilots and navigators completing 12 years of aviation service who have spent at least six years in operational flying duty are entitled to continuous incentive pay for 18 years of aviation service; Pilots and navigators completing 18 years of aviation service who have spent nine or more years but less than 11 years in operational flying duty are entitled to continuous in- - to qualify for continuous incentive pay will be entitled to monthly incentive pay for the performance of operational or proficiency flying duty. Flight surgeons who were on flying status May 31, 1974, are entitled under the saved-pa- y provisions when assigned to certain rated positions without respect to their years of officer service through May 31, 1977. After that date, only those flight surgeons with less than 25 years of creditable officer service who perform operational flying dutywill receive incentive pay. Test pilot selected OFFUTT Neb.
