Show Page June HILL TOP TIMES 22 Hill sports Force Base was honored hy the National Hill Air dust rial Recreation "Association (NIRA) at its annual awards luncheon in Atlanta, "Ga. on May 21, when Joseph M. Hess, Chief, Special Services Division - was presented two Certificates of Excellence. The first-plac- e awards were presented for the outstanding winter sports and rodeo programs on Hill AFB and awarded only when individual recreation programs are so unique and outstanding as to merit special national recognition. Over 700 companies hold membership in NIRA, including such organizations as Motor Ford Company, Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Funds Management Branch, and the many energetic people who assisted them. IBM, Zerox, Kodak, Lockheed is responsible for Mr. Orton Aircraft, Arnold Research, the winter sports program and Bureau of Naval Personnel, Mr. Christiansen U.S. Marine Corps and directed theorganized rodeo U.S. Army Headquarters, the Department of Welfare and all program. Mr. Hess also lauded the AFLC bases. Hill AFB won two of the civilian and military fund councils for their strong eleven Certificates of Excellence presented for the support of both programs.
