Reference: AFR 5 Commander's Call. Commanders communicate most effectively when they speak personnally to those they lead. Commander's Call is designed to establish the unit commander as the primary source of information for the people he commands. The following standards apply: The Commander will personally conduct Commander's Call each month during normal duty hours. All military personnel present for duty will attend Commander's Call each month as a mandatory function. Civilian personnel are encouraged to attend. The Commander will use meetings to: (1) Tell his personnel what the organization has or has not accomplished since the last Commander's Call, (2) Outline the ways in which the unit can perform its assigned mission more effectively, (3) Specify the goals toward which the Commander and the unit will strive for the next 30 days, (4) Discuss unit problems, including when appropriate, a question and answer session, (5) Recognize newcomers and worthy individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the unit and the Air Force and (6) Discuss contemporary problems and issues, affecting the Air Force. The official "Air Force Now" film will be shown.
