Show rage minima 'Thinking lan's' "thinking" employees recently shared $1430 in cash awards for their contributions to the insulation's Suggestion Program. Included in the group were several who received awards for two or more idaas and ore top local award of $500. Donald O. Hughes, freight traffic officer in Surface Terminal Branch, Supp!y, received the $500 award for his suggestion that aircraft tires purchased from contractors be shipped on government bills of lading rather than "F.O.B. destination." Contractors formerly shipped tires on commercial bills of lading to their destination, paid all freight charges and gave no allowance ba5ed on the cost of the tires. Shipping the tires in accordance with &lr. Hughes' idea results in a 2 percent of cost cf tires allowance on carload shipments. Since the actual freight charges are less than the 2 percent allowance, significant savings result from each shipment. It was estimated that an average of $140,416 will result from the first year of operation.
