Tom had nine years of service at Hill be If Col. Bailey Three Officers To Leave For New Assignments Three Ogden AMA staff offi cers will leave Utah soon for new Air Force assignments. Their re placements at Hill AFB have not been announced. Col. Nathan G. Mehaffey, direc tor of materiel management, will depart in July for the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Washington, D. C. The college is the top Department of Defense school for key officers and civilians. The school offers courses of study in all phases of the national economy of eco and the nomic, political, military and psy chological factors. Lt. Col. Uriel P. d'Aeosta, deputy Hill AFB commander, will leave Hill. AFB in July for assignment as deputy chief of personnel and management services office at the Air Materiel Command's Ballistic Missile Center, Inglewood, Calif. Lt. Col. William D. Bailey, chief of the operating program project office, will leave later this month to attend the Air War College at Maxwell AFB, Ala. The school offers the highest level of professional education of inter-relationsh- ip all schools operated by the Air Force. It promotes sound concepts in strategy and other factors aimed at the most effective development of the air arm. Entered Service 1940 Native of Gorman, Tex Col Mehaffey entered the Army Air Corps in Dec. 1JM0 as a flying ca det and won his pilots wings in August 1941. During WWII he flew 78 combat missions as a 1 pilot in the Pacific theatre. He reported to Hill AFB in Oct. 1937 following an assignment as chief of operations and materiel division, Inspector General's office, at headquarters U. S. Air Forces in Europe, Wiesbaden, Germany. Col. Mehaffey will be accompanied to his new assignment by his wife and two children. Col. d'Aeosta, who will leave Hill in July, was assigned to the Ogden AMA in May 1957, and has held several important positions here. He was director of person nel for the Ogden Air Materiel Area prior to his position as dep uty commander. He entered the service in 1933 and was commissioned in 1942. Mrs. d'Aeosta, a former WAF maj or, will accompany the colonel to his new duty station. Col. Bailey, native of Dooling, Ga., entered the service in Aug. 1942 and received his commission and pilot's wings in May 1943. During WWII he served in the Pacific Area where he flew 14 9 mis sions against Japan.
