Gary V Ellen Jane Nielson, Davis High School sophomore, has been named first place winner in the Hill Administrative Club's second annual high school essay contest about the base. The award winner, a straight "A" student, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elden F. Nielson of 141 N. 5th E., Kaysville. Placing second through sixth were Gary Peterson, Davis High School, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Petersen,, 189 Lakeview Dr., Clearfield; Lucy Oleson, DHS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orlin B. Oleson of Et 1, Box 511, Clearfield; Lowell A. Bangerter, DHS, son of Lt. CoL and Mrs. Alma H. Bangerter, 654 N. Main St., Clearfield; Amelia Graehl, DHS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard N. Graehl, Rt. 2, Box 340, Lay- . ton, and Bonnie . Bates, Morgan High School, daughter of Mrs. Richard L. Bates of Morgan. Miss Nielson will visit Hill AFB Thursday and be appointed honorary base commander for the day n and run the affairs of this dollar air installation. She also will receive a $200 savings bond and a trophy. Her high school will receive a trophy. Other winners who will be at Hill AFB on that day at ceremonies attended by parents and administrative club officials, will receive the following awards: second and third place, $100 and $50 bond, respectively, and trophies for themselves and their school; fourth through sixth place winners will receive trophies.
