In taking a survey of our community recetly, we have noticed that a lot has been accomplished but that we have let a huge crop of weeds go to seed. Now is the time to act and act quickly. Because of the moisture received recently, it will be easy to remove our weed crop and get them piled up and disposed of. Cleaning up and beautifying our community is one of the projects which we are striving to complete in our "Year of Achievement" program. For those of you who still do not understand, the prize imoney of $10,000.00 (first prize) will be awarded a community somewhere in the United States that makes the greatest achievement with the greatest cooperative effort. The $10,000.00 could do wonders to our community. It could be used to make Nephi a more desira!ble place in which to live to attract new industries to attract new people. And if so, who benefit the community as a whole our all of us children and do on down to future citizens. Each year the k Foundation gives this worthwhile prize to the community entering the contest who achieves the most with the most cooperation. The Fine Arts Club, local sponsors of the project, cannot do the job alone we need your help and your cooperation. One thing which we've .been especially grately for has been the response which we've received from the Ladies Federated Clubs and the Civic Clubs of Nephi, However there are times that each of us are called upon to perform tasks on our own property that the Civic Clubs cannot be expected to do. Let's open our eyes and take stock of our streets. Try to get a stranger's-ey- e view as if you were just passing through. Would it beacon you to stay or urge you on your way? Think about it! We don't' know the formulas behind "Spudnik" or "Muttnik" but with the common formula of "Elbow grease" we can accomplish "Operation Weednik" -- So let's us a good display of YOUR civic pride! get goingt-Jgi- ve Publicity Committee, Civic Achievement Program, Fine Arts Club of Nephi help Heard from a young lady as the clerk told her of the tax on a medium priced bottle of perfume "luxury tax on this?
