Since the summer session the work of organizing and compiling material has been going on. At' the Elementary School Conference held two days prior to the Utah Educational Convention this work was summarized for representatives of all the school districts of the State. Regional conferences are now being held to bring this material, in the form of curriculum guides, to the teachers of the state. Nephi has been selected as the meeting place for Nebo, Tintic, Millard and Juab Districts. This conference will be held at the high school Thursday, November 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 P. M. Interested patrons are Invited to attend this conference. Kiwan-ia- n Thomas gave a vivid picture of the present trends that effect busi ness, and the outlook for future conditions. Mr. Thomas attended a short business conference at the Leland Stanford University several months ago, where representatives from the Western States discusssed mat ters of vital importance to the He business men of the nation. dicussed a number of the matters that were taken up at the school and also gave a report of present conditions in the business world, as well as giving some pertinent facts as presented by one of the best authorities in Washington, D. GOWERS Term For Councilman, M ANDERSON JAMES Term For Councilman, Along with the subjects to be given at the special course for poultrymen during the next seven weeks there Is to be some excitement and Intense interest in a side line which has been arranged for by the committee in charge. This interesing series will begin next Wednesday afternoon at 2 P. M. in the city hall. Carl Frischknecht, extension pouitryman from the Agricultural college will be the speaker. Mr. Frischknecht has just returned from the Maryland where he College of Agriculture has been associated with the production and marketing poultry courses given at that institution. His talk will be highly worth while to the poultrymen of this county. Through an arrangment with a commercial firm a number of very fine prizes will be given for attendance to one person selected at each, meeting An opportunity of winning the grand prize at the closing session of the course. Credit toward the grand prize will be given each in attendance at every meeting and every pouitryman is urged to be in attendance at' every meeting. A special committee is arranging for refreshments for the opening meeting next Wednesday. NEPHI CITY PAROWAN New Position Burnell Aagard, who since- the opening of The Commercial Bank of Nephi in 1935, has been Assistant Cashier, has recently accepted a position with the Bank of America, at San Francisco. Mr. Aagard will be employed as assistant to the manager of one of the branches of The Bank of America, and for a short time will be located at Roseville, California. The Bank of America is now the second largest banking association in the United States, and Burnell is to be congratulated on his step up to his new position. The Bank of America is the California correspondent of The Commercial Bank of Nephi. Reed G. Starley of Delta, Utah, has been employed to take the position formerly held by Bernell Mr. Starley comes to Aaagard. Nephi well qualified for the position, having had banking experience as well as a special college training in business administration. He also has taught school for several years. He s a married man and has a family of four children. HUGE DEER TAKEN FROM NEAR BY HILLS BY NEPHI MEN Probably the largest of the several large deer which were taken from the hills surrounding Nephi during the season which recently ended, is the 263 pound five-poi- nt buck which was brought In by Brent D. Hall and T. D. Davis on Monday. The 263 pound weight was the dressed weight of the animal, and the estimated live weight was placed at around 350 pounds by the two men. The deer was taken in the territory south and east of Nephi, In the vicinity of Little Valley, Mr. From this district Hall reported. there have been several deer taken that have gone over the 200 pound mark, when dressed out. The deer Is in the meat storage box of the City Meat market, if anyone would like to see the an- tral. Bowers Jr. FOR PHEASANT HUNT Arts Club Holds Meeting Fine The Fine Arts Club met last Friday evening, October 24, at the home of Mrs. J. W. Ellison. The meeting was in charge of President Lila Richardson. Each member answered the roll call by giving a favorite European composer. Collect was read by Mrs. V. A. Beck. Mrs. C. W. Glazier presenkd a very well prepared review on the life of the famous composer, Beethoven. She also played two lovely selections from his works, "Moonlight Sonata," and "Fur Elise." For years past, the practice of getting more birds than the state regulations allow has been growing among the hunters. This not only is against the law, but robs other hunters of their portion of the game birds. P. T. A.
