The public affairs committee of the Nephi Kiwanis Club, in cooper ation with Nephi City and Juab County officials and other official and civic agencies through this district are compiling valuable data concerning the work accomplished by the CCC cvamps which have been established in the Nebo district and also outlining a needed program for further development. This Information is being assembled and "will be presented in a resolution to R. H. Rutledge, regional forester, Robert Feschner, director of the x, Washington and P. A. CCC, chief forester at Washington, D. C, asking for approval of a camp for the Nebo district for 1937. The resolution will also ask for the of the repair and present barracks in order that an camp be established here. In going over the work accom plished by the CCC boys In the Nebo district during the summers of 1933, 1934 and 1936, the outstanding work was the building of the' Mount Nebo scenic loop road; the cleaning up and beautification of the Nebo recreational area; the building of the road" up Chicken Creek canyon and the cleaning and beautification of the recreatloral area known as Greenland Park. ' The building of the flood control dams in Marsh canyon was also one of the fine pieces of work done by the boys, but the dams are only a ncans of controling the flood waters, and the main, work in Marsh canyon Is to be accomplished farther up the canyon in erosion control work. The resolution will show that there is at least ten years work in the area adjacent to Nebo, which will include the widening jf the Nebo loop road, the building of a rond up Santaquin canyon, connecting with the Nebo loop road, the building of a brajjeh road into the Nebo basins, the building of a roatl :y p Pole canyon, the building dfj'aTfond up Pigeon Creek, in Levaff cfriyon, building a road into the Nebo Creek canyon and rebuilding trails thruout the entire area, and the beautification of additional recreational areas within the district. It is also being reported that over fifty thousand people visited the recreational areas in the Nebo district during the years from July 1, 1935 to June 1, 1936, according to olficial records. As soon as appointments can be made the local organizations plan to meet with forest supervisor Charles DeMoisey Jr. at Provo and also with R. H. Rutledge, regional forester at Ogden, and ask that a camp be established here during the early part of 1937.
