Spring, the season of plowing, planting and planning hag returned to the farm and there is every Indication th,at Is ushurlng In a good In year for American agriculture. spite of temporary setbacks, prices of farm commodities have been moving steadily upward. The Ag ricultural Adjustment Adminlstrat Ion has perfected plans and programs designed to benefit the pro ducer of the staple crops by rais lag prices, reducing surpluses and more nearly balancing supply with demand. The Farm Credit Admlnls tratlon established nearly a year ago Is now organized to meet the tiemendous demand for loans. Already It has removed the shadow of foreclosure from tens of thousands of farms and has extended long term, low Interest credit to Approximately a quarter of a mlU lion farmers. The four types of TCA loans are designed to meet every need and take Into account the heavy burden of debt under which many owners have been operating, as well as the need of many tenants for emergency funds with which to plant and harvest a crop. Two billion dollars has already been made available to relieve the situation. In Utah, 1165 Federal Land Bank Loans and Land Bank Comlssloner loans, totaling a sum of $2,415,300.00 were closed from May 1, 1933 to March 1, 1934. Modern machinery Is also playing an Important part In solving the problems of the farmer. The Diesel Tractor, first Introduced three years ago by a prominent track-typ- e tractor manufacturer has reduced the farm power costs as much as 80 per cent, according to the Landes Tractor and Equipment Co., trachtor and machinery dealer and ether models, burning low cost tract-o- f fuels have recently been anoun-ce- d that bring similar operating economy to smaller farms and orchards. The Farm Credit Administration Is approving equipment purchases from the proceeds of land bank and commissioner loans, and Mr. Landes, president of the Landes Tractor and Equipment Co., states that his company Is accepting bonds of the Federal Farm Mortgage Corporation at par or market, which ever is higher, on all sales made to farmers. This combination of sound and liberal credit, lower production costs and the ability to purchase necessary equipment on favorable terms makes the farm outlook for 1934 the brightest it has been for several years. This committee has a form (W-3which the producer must fill out before the allotment committee gives Its written consent for him to abandon his wheat acreage. It Is only necessary for the producer to follow the above procedure which this abandonment of acreage will leave his less than 54 per cent of his average acreage In wheat. For Instance, if a producer had an average of 100 acres In wheat each year during the base period, he agreed when he signed the contract to plant not more than 85 acres nor elss than 54 acres for harvest this ear. If he planted the P5 acres and jnow wishes to cut 30 acres of this for hay he can do so without consulting the allotment committee as he still would have 55 acres of wheat left which fulfills his contract. If. however, he wishes to cut for hay. pasture or plow up 50, 60 or the entire 85 acres, he should secure the written consent of the allotment committee as he would have less than the required minimum of 54 acres when the Inspector comes to check his farm, Mr. Owens points out. otherwise, thirty days after service and defend the above entitled action; and In case of your failure so to do, Judjmet will be rendered against you according to the demand of the complaint which has been filed with the Clerk of the said Court.
