American Legion MAKE 0 DIE E IRK 11 Fill e Fund of $200.00 Will Juab's Quota in the Timpanogos Budget Fin-anc- $100.09 Needed Locally Scoutmasters, scouts and scout officials of Juab district are launching a drive to put this district in a place in the sun in scouting. At a recent meeting of local scoutmasters and officials it was agreed that Juab district should again affiliate with the Timpanogos Council. This council includes in its membership, districts south, north, east and west of Juab, and Juab district is the only district in its territory which is not actively affiliated with the council. Timpanogos council rates as the leading district council of Utah and Utah outranks every state in the Union in the number of scouts, per capita of population, and in quality of scouting done. Scouts of Juab Stake have for a long time been calling for affiliation with the Timpanogos council and scoutmasters and scout officials have longed for the excellent supervision and cooperative work of the district organization. Financial support has been lacking, however. Local scoutmasters and scouts have had to work their way as best they could. Timpanogos council has had to be relied upon as a connecting link with national headquarters of the scout organization, although Juab district has not been participating in financing the Timpanogos council budget. Local scoutmasters and scouts have proved their devotion to the cause and the time has now arrived, in the opinion of local officials, to call upon the citizens of Juab district to finance the scouting program and provide necessary funds for active participation by Juab district, in the scouting program as carried on by Timpanogos district. Local committeemen .feel fissured that Nephi, Levan and ona have enough citizens who are Interested in the development of boyhood to finance scouting in a program similar to surrounding districts. Lovers of boys, they assert, are as numerous in this district as elsewhere and the quality of boyhood in Juab district is of such standing as to demand the respect and active support of public spirited citizens. It is therefore proposed to organize a live-yeprogram of particlna tion with Timpanogos Council and to call upon a large number of leading citizens of Nephi, Levan and Mona to sign up for a moderate contribution each year to make this (scouting program possible. It is es ' timated that a fund of $200.00 per year wlli. finance Juab's quota In the Timpitriogos budget and that $100.00 per year should be raised for local expenses. With this local ex pense fund and with active mem bership in the Timpanogos oreani tion, scouting in Juab district should make greater strides than ever be fore. Certainly it is the duty of parents and citizens alike to lend financial support to the men who are carrying the fine program of scouting in this district. ar Ward Honor Night Held In North Ward M.
