PAR NERS Farms Banks The successful farm Is as closely allied with a bank as with the stock or seed it proposes to increase to a profit. As an example, take sheep. It has been many-yearsince the British learned from the Romans the are of spinning wool. It was in 1609 that the first sheep into the U. S. were landed at Jamestown, Va., and almost two centuries later, 1792, that the first carding machine was invented. Progress has been fast since then. Today one of the biggest wollen manufacturers produces 70,000,000 yards of fabric each year, and its assets are $130,000,000. When that much money is involved banking is a part of it. i In our humble way, this bank is vital in the industrial and agricultural progress of the world and you Mr. Stockman or Farmer have a hand, no matter what commodity you cultivate or produce To keep wheels turning, w should work together, whether it be savings, checking, loans or investments. According to a statement given out this week by Mr. Peterson, chairman of the State Road Commission, a determined effort is going to be made to enforce the law relative to horse drawn vehicles having lights when traveling the state roads at night. This paper drew attention to this law several months ago, and in view of the great amount of paved roads now in the state, it is positively dangerous for horse drawn vehicles to be traveling at night without being equipped with some kind of h light in order that drivers of cars may be able to avoid collision. The law governing this matter is solely for the protection of the slow moving vehicle and should be compiled with. Another provision of this law is, for the driver of the slow moving auto truck or horse drawn wagon, to pull to the extreme right of the road in order to eliminate the danger as much as possible from the faster moving cars.
