This man knew it would cause him a great deal of trouble if these things should be lost or destroyed so he came to the bank next morning to rent a Safety Deposit Box. SE. ar A resolution has been passed by one of the organiaatious in this city for the purpose of organizing a hnrt for this city. A committee has been appointed for this purpose and the movement should have the suDDort of every live citizen and the clubs of the town. The need of a band in our city is well set forth in the resolutions which are printed in another Part of this puper. This city has nlentv of mnaimi talent for such an organization, in fact the woods are full of them. We have had some good bands in this city in the past, but the matter of finance has always been a stumbling block to its progress, because in the past the burden of carrying on the organization has generally fallen on the shoulders of a few. In view of the fact that everybody enjoys the music of a band it a nniv fair that all should help to contri- Dute to its support, and our idea is, that a small tax sufficient t on the work efficiently should be levied to carry on the work. This method is employed in a large num ber Of the cities in the United States with very successful results. Of 6,500 miles of completed Feder al aid road tor which satistics have been collected by the Bureau of Pub lic noaas, United States Department of Agriculture, one-ha- lf has been constructed of 16 and 13 foot width, 25 per cent of a greater width and 25 per cent of a less width. As would be expected the wider roads have been eppstrupted largely in the more populous states, although some of the less populous states are building wider roads for the main highways. There is a general tendency, it is said, to build wider roads to meet the needs of the constantly increasing traffic, as shown by the 25 per cent of the mileage over 18 feet in width, 7 per cent being 24 feet or wider.
