MAN Y VISITORS AT TEND FESTIVITIES The Annual Old Folks Party and Home Coming celebration was held in the ward meeting house last Thur sday. A program consisting of music, speeches, etc, was given, after waich elaborate tables were spread with good things of the earth, at which all under twenty years of age was feasted. From here the crowd went to the hall where the Jenkins' orchestra played while practically everybody in town enjoy ed themselves at dancing. The board then took up the matter of the county car, and after some discussion the clerk was instructed sto advertise for bids for the sale of the car. The date for holding the regular meeting was changed from the 12th, of each month, to the third Tuesday of each month. BOARD Of EDUCATION HOLD MEETING A meeting bf the Board of Educ ation of Juab School District was held Wednesday evening, there being pre sent, Jas. Garrett Jr, J. H. Lunt Harry Foote, Lorenzo Mangelson, and Job. F. Newton. Supt. Stewart, made a lengthly report on the conditions of the schools throughout the district, and discus sejl with the Board what the prosp ectg would be to obtain teachers for the next school year. The term of the next 'contract to be offered teachers was gone over by the Board, and it was decided to use practically the same kind of contract that was at present in use by the dis trict. The schools of the district will be allowed to close next Tuesday in hon or of Washington's Birthday, but it was ordered by the Board that no more visiting days be allowed teach ers during the remainder of the pres ' ent school term. Smith, was the text speaker endorsing what had been said by Elder Talmage, also giving a report on the standing of the members of the church in this stake, in regard to the payment of tithes and offerings.' After the closing remarks by President Rees, the Conference came to, a close, benediction being offered by Bishop Thomas Bail-- ey. In the evening a conjoint meeting was held under the auspices of the M. I. A. a program being rendered and short addresses being given by the new Stake officers of the Y. M. M. I. A. Johnson, of the State Board of Health Department, was in Nephi Monday looking over health condit ion in this city, especially the small pox situation, and before leaving ur ged upon the Health officers of this city the need of having school children vaccinated, as a preventative against the disease. "Of course" Mr. Johnson explained, "the State of Utah has no law compelling people to be vaccinated, but for the protection of the childen it was highly necess ary that they should be vaccinated, waich should be dona at the expense of the school district, and the city together, the cost being only a nominal matter." Before leaving the city he urged that the school district and the city Board of Health take the question up at once and endeavor to put such an order Int effect. . In going over the city he stated that he found sanitary conditions in Nephi fully equal to other towns of like size in the State, and paid a high compliment to the excellent sanitary conditions found at t'ae Forrest Hotel. Stake Superintendent of Sunday Schools, Robert Winn, then gave a report on the condition of the Sunday schools of the Stake, stating that the attendance was better last year than for iany previous years, also paid tribute to the good work of the teachers, and the interest that had been taken in tecaher training work.
