Mil Mil am mi The school is a "Hot Line Seminar" for the line crew foremen at Utah Power & Light Company. Class opens whenever a new or unusual problem prob-lem comes up. The idea is to give every foreman experience in every kind of problem he'll face. The object is safety. That's why the seminars are held by the safety department. Once a problem prob-lem crops up, a line crew made up of foremen gathers at the site for a "tailboard conference" with the safety department. Then the job is dissected into each man's func tion and sequence in minute detail before they even attempt to climb the tower. This way the men learn what to do, when to do it, and how to do it safely. Hot line work must be taught when the line is hot . . . on the tower with 230,000 volts surging through the line. Utah Power & Light's main concern is keeping your power coming, continuously, at reasonable cost. And to fix a line we either have to shut it down, of fix it while it's hot. That's the way we helped to pioneer the techniques and tools for hot line work. The Folks at Utah Power & Light Co., Your Electric Concern |
