Show OAK CITY MACEL ANDERSON I suppose the first thing is an apology to Thurlo Jacobson. Instead In-stead of being in the hospital, he has been in the hospital and his wife Ada, brought him back home after spending several weeks in the northern part of the state, Brigham City and Provo' with his family. Mrs. Margaret Jorgensen of Og-den Og-den visited her mother, Mrs. Le Roy Walker on Tuesday of last week. She arrived in time to get into the remodeling that was going go-ing on in the Walker home. Mrs. Walker's son, Mervin has spent most of the week working there so they had a nice time together even tho they were all torn up. The Walkers have made a lovely walk in shower in their bathroom and have made cabinets, etc., in there so they have so much more room. A group of members of the ward vere temple visitors Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. The MIA held their spring speech festival last Tuesday evening. eve-ning. Talks were given by Maria Finlinsion, Karen Lovell, Michael Anderson, Murial Jacobson and Stewart Taylor, Jeanene Dutson, Steven Dutson, and Sara Rae Finlinson. They were all very good and showed much preparation. prep-aration. Musical numbers were given by Carol Anderson, a vocal solo and Jay Finlinson a piano solo. High Councilman Joseph Moody visited Sunday morning at Priesthood Priest-hood meeting and Sunday School. Then at Sacrament meeting Sunday Sun-day evening he had as a companion com-panion Elder Paul Moody and Mrs. Joe Moody and the children. Mrs. Moody played a lovely piano solo. Mrs. Melva Day and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lee Day of Fillmore Fill-more visited Sunday at church and with her relatives and friends. On Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shipley, Mr. and Mrs. Gail Niel-son Niel-son and Mrs. Lavon Christensen attended funeral services in Salt Lake for Mrs. Cleone Martin Glade. Mrs. Glade was a sister ofi Roy Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Royj Martin and children of Los Ange les were here before and after the funeral, returning to their home Sunday morning. Miss Wilna Wixom made a trip into Salt Lake where she visited a few days with her sister, sis-ter, Nell and husband, Oscar Pike. The Lyman Finlinson family drove to Provo Friday evening j and surprised their daughter,; Sylvia for her birthday and had a fine party together. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell visit ed over the weekend with members mem-bers of their family in the St. George area, Mr. and Mrs. Merton Lovell and children and Mr. and Mrs. Don Schmutz. Mrs. Chloe Alldredge and EIRue were home from Kearns over the! weekend. Jim and Jolinda of j Delta joined them in a spring, clean up at Chloe's home. When: they all get at it the work goes fast. There will be a farewell party and dance Friday evening in honor of Roger Anderson who is leaving on the 22nd to serve in the Armed Services. Talks were given by Ann Webb, his daughter and Don Webb. Remarks by Bishop Bob Jenson, a song, "In The Garden" by Rita and Ann Webb accompanied by their mother, Dorothy Webb. Every one was to bring an extra person and a large crowd attended. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Slaughter of Las Vegas visited Roxie Losee and Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Oliver over the weekend. The Jolly Stitchers entertained their last card party of the season at the hall. Hostesses were Vivian Holman, Viola Walker and Hilda Oliver. A hot pot luck supper was served and cards played, seven tables. First prizes were won by Guy Terrell and Norma Meinhardt and low by Marvin Ogden and Zelda Ogden. Curt Shields, Harold Jensen and Frelen Shurtz made a trip to the Mantl temple one day last week. MISS LA RITA PRATT Engagement Told The announcement is being made of the engagement of Miss LaRita Pratt and .Douglas Schmutz. Miss Pratt is the daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas K. Pratt of Oak City. Mr. Schmutz is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schmutz of St. George. The bride-elect is a graduate of Delta High School and is currently cur-rently attending Dixie College, St. George. Mr. Schmutz attended Dixie College, filled an LDS mis sion in South Germany and is now at Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, Provo. The young couple has planned a June 12, 1970 wedding date in the St. George LDS Temple. A reception and dance will honor them June 13 in the Oak City Cultural Hall. Melville Bishop Camp of Daughters Daugh-ters of Utah Pioneers at her home Friday, April 17, 2:00 p.m. The Helen Marr McCullough Camp, DUP, will meet Friday, April 17, 2:00 p.m. at the home of Lou Swalberg. Hostesses will be Ella Black and Vi Bunker. one wil be out to give him a good send off and one to re member. Mrs. Leola Dalton, her son, Corey Dalton and a friend, Tammy Tam-my Schofield of Ogden visited Leola's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Roper Sunday. Corey is le ving in May for a mission to Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Nielson and children of Tooele visited their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Milan Jacobson and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ver-non Nielson and their families. Lemira Dutson, Margaret Roper and Macel Anderson visited Friday Fri-day and had dinner with Mrs. . Mabel Schick in Delta to celebrate cele-brate her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. John Wright were Larry Oliver made a trip to Salt Lake for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Oliver and family. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Perkins of Ely, Nev. visited over the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Losee and Mr. and Mrs. Lou Perkins and Roxie Losee, their grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Val Sorenson and small baby of Kimberly, Ida. visited for a week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Alldredge and family of Las Vegas visited their sister, Faye and Ted Clark and family over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Greene and family have moved back and will work for Richard Henrie in his dairyi. We welcome them home, only they will live in Sutherland. All the grandchildren and children chil-dren of George Jenson's, Tressa Jenson's daughters and many nephews and nieces attended Henrietta Hen-rietta Barben's funeral, too numerous numer-ous to name, also a sister, Lilly and Ross Searle. A large funeral denotes the many friends she had. We will all miss her. Sunday night the program given by the High Councilman, Don First Ward News Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Jeffery and four children visited over the weekend with their relatives Mr. and Mrs. Don Poulsen, Mr. and Mrs. Hale Jeffery, Ruth Jensen and other family members they were able to catch in between. Mr. G. Rex Jensen of Sandy spent three hours Tuesday, April 7 trying to contact Mrs. Ruth Jensen Jen-sen on the telephone to inform her that his wife Sybil had just presented him with a fourth son. This makes 22 grandchildren for Ruth, 12 of them boys. Well you can't expect it to come out even all the time and it was 10-10 a year ago. Anyway, Jerry, Edward and Kevin said they would have liked a sister but maybe they would not have known what to do with a girl. The new baby we'ghed 9 lb. 4 oz. Mother and son are doing real good and the father is proud as a peacock. Mrs. Zelma Shallbetter and son, Galen took off for a few days visit in Spanish Fork at the Robert Farris home. Zelma had such a blast galavanting with her sister, Arvilla and her niece, Susan that she decided to extend the vacation vaca-tion a week but before the extension exten-sion was over spring vacation came and Arvilla packed her four youngest young-est children in the car and came to Delta to visit her mother, Ruth Jensen and the Warren Jensen family. A couple of moons later Hevcals Troth . . . Mr. and Mrs. Neno Schena announce an-nounce the engagement of their daughter, Shirlene, to Mr. Bill Miller, son of Colonel and Mrs. Edward Miller of Kill Air Force Ease, Utah. Plans are being made for a Juno wedding with tho exact date to be announced later. Pamela is the daughter of Mrs. Marvin (Elaine) Jensen of Delta. Bob is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Woody Carnell of Salt Lake City. The newlywed couple resides in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Jensen will hostess a tea in her daughter's honor Saturday, April 25, between the hours of 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. at her home, 260 West Fourth South, Delta. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. FHA TO SPONSOR FASHION SHOW The Future Homemakers of America Chapter of Delta High is sponsoring a fashion show Wednesday, Wednes-day, April 29, 2:15 p.m. The show is open to the public and refreshments refresh-ments will be served. Models and fashions will be Home Ec students and their articles arti-cles of clothing made as class assignments. Johnson Margene Bunker Janet Johnson JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES TO HOLD CONVENTION APRIL 24 TO 26 IN TOOELE Jehovah's Witnesses of the Delta congregation will soon be attending attend-ing their three-day circuit convention conven-tion in Tooele, Utah, scheduled for April 25 to 26, 1970. According to the local presiding minister, Donald Kozina, the Bible convention will be held in the new Tooelei High School Auditorium, located at 240 West First South; and the theme for this three-day gathering will be "Sacrafices That Please God." Mr. Kozina said that over 800 ministers are xpected from Salt Lake City to Richfield in Utah and Elko and Ely in Nevada. Susan ran out of time off from work so Zelma and Galen also returned re-turned to Delta. Saturday afeernoon the telephone tele-phone rang, Zelma answered and called out Mom! Arvilla! It is long distance from Colene in Calif. Ruth dashed to the extension phone and Arvilla to the neighbors and a very enjoyable chit-chat was held with the daughters all talking at once.
