Guests were members of the Bishopric and their wives. Supper was served after which a nice program was presented. Santa Claus made his visit leaving filled stockings for each one. At the Ted Deanisons last week was their daughter Vilate of Salt Lake. Hinckley Ward Choir CANTATA this Sunday evening at the church at 7:00 p.m. Everyone invited. Ren does a lot of carpentry-type work. Mrs.Marge Cox had her Primary Trekker boys at her home last Monday to enjoy a chili dinner. The boys are Ricky Christensen, Lane Morris, Scott Stanworth, Ellis Peterson, Bradley Bishop. At the Duane Galli home this weekend was their daughter, Pau'.a of Provo. Hollie Manis visited with her family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Manis. Friday the hugh Christmas tree was put up in front of the church. It is a thrill to see the big tree up to usher in the holiday season. Decorations are going up, parties are being held in the town. Saturday afternoon, Gam Bishop and Ivan Wright had an accident when their cars collided on Main Street in front of Gordon Bishop's. Ivan's head hit his windshield, bruising and cutting it and breaking break-ing the glass and was shook up, but luckily there were no serious injuries. This week, three of our Hinckley people have been In West Millard Hospif 1. Ruth Talbot.who was released re-leased the first of this week follow-ing follow-ing surgery, Randle Swensen and Hilda Wright. Mrs. Fern Hcpworth was honored on her birthday Sunday at the Leonard Palmer home. From out-of-town were Beth Hepworth, Roma and Don Zellar and two children, all of Tooele; Thola Kolan of Lehi; also Harold Hepworth and family and Bcrnice and Leonard and family. fam-ily. We also wish Fern a Happy Birthday. Dean Redd left Sunday to go to Denver, Colo, for his schooling. Sunday evening I received a telephone call from my mother in Calif, telling me that my stepfather step-father was in the hospital with flu and complications. John and Rachel Wright visited here with the Rodney Wrights and with her parents in Oak City. Mrs. Scbrina Eklns and Mr. and Mrs. Waller Ekins were up north on business this past week. There will be no classes In Sunday Sun-day School this Sunday. A special Christmas program is being presented pre-sented and families will sit together to-gether for this Sunday. The Hinckley Ward served a big turkey and ham supper for the Delta Lions Club at the lunch room of the school. Sixty-one people were served. This was a project for the Ward Building Fund. Mr. and Mrs. Verdon Blake anl family and Mrs. Clarrisa Blake of Provo were here last week. Monday afternoon the Primary presented Story of the First Christ- I mas at the church. Mothers and other ward members enjoyed the program. Don. and Cherie Morris returned t home Saturday from a month's1 trip to the Hawaiian Islands. They i report that they had a wonderful time, saw lots of beautiful sights and were very impressed with the warmth and exceptionally friendli- ness of the people there. While ' there, they met Ethel Hiu, an aunt of Cherie's (her grandfather's sister) sis-ter) who she had .never seen. Two of the most wonderful things they visited were the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor and the Punch Bowl National Cemetery of the Pacific which is on top of an old crater. They spent twenty days on the Island of Oahu; from there they flew to Kauai where they stayed two days; then on to Maui for two more dflys and then flew on to Hilo where they stayed for six days. The scenery and beautiful beauti-ful flowers are almost beyond description, de-scription, Cherie said. They took a' boat tour to Pearl Harbor and the, rest of their trip they traveled in their own bus they had taken over, there. They saw the Hawaiian Temple, visited at church services and attended a luau where the food was mostly served raw-raw ' tuna, raw shrimp, etc. Although Don liked it real well, Cherie said this did .not appeal to her. They were treated so very friendly every , place that they went that It was much more wonderful. Remember the Big Ward Party. at the Make House Saturday evening, eve-ning, with a big turkey supper being be-ing served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Chairmen for the event are dinner-Mr. dinner-Mr. and Mrs. Parry (Jeanie) Taylor, decorations, advertising-Mr. and Mrs. LaVar (Marge) Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Dean (Karen) Redd. The Sheldon Westerns are putting put-ting up a big addition to their home. With the passing of Don A. Bishop this past week, Hinckley has lost one of its most beloved men. Don was a well-liked and, respected man, who was a true Christian. He lived a life according to his convictions and I don't believe be-lieve he had an enemy. He was the first baby born in our town. Attending funeral services Saturday for him were his brothers, Ben and his wife, Van Dyna, Earl and wife, I Marion (Maine) and wife, all of Salt Lake; sisters, Lizzie and El- bert Stevens of Holden, Nellie Pace and son. His son Bob and Dolpha of Provo, daughter, Nellie! Rae Corry and husband of Cedar,' Lena and Bryon Parker, Rulon and Lucilla Hinckley of Salt Lake, Art Reeve and Rex Reeve of Salt Lake,1 Mr. and Mrs. Win. They made daily sessions through the temple while they were there. Mr.and Mrs. Karl Murray just returned re-turned from a trip to Calif, where they visited with all their children there and Karl's sister and brother. Joan and Chuck Sledge at Bar-stow, Bar-stow, Marilyn and Jerry and children chil-dren pt Uba City, Hugh and Dorothy Doro-thy at Bakersfield and Virginia and Glen Robertson at Sacramento. They all attended high school at Provo (Arvilla Workman's parents) Mr. and Mrs. Tim Bishop, Provo, Vickl Halsey, Gwen and Billie Jo Rogers of Milford. I, like many others, attended an1 enjoyed the presentation Sunday of the "Messiah" at the high school. While the Karl Murrays were in Calif, they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Franklin (Peggy), former residents of Abraham. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Jones went to Salt Lake last week when it was nice weather, but when they came out of the temple, there were several inches of snow on the I ground. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Erickson of Provo spent the weekend with his folks in Sutherland. Mrs. Merrell and Mrs. Leah Mor-tensen Mor-tensen accompanied their children to Sutherland for the Seminary program given by the students of Mr Ralph Erickson. Dr. Cox also accompanied them. Mrs. Zelda Ogden went to Salt t ake last week to check with her doctor. Sunday Zelda and Ivo made a trip to Beaver to visit with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Miller and family. The Ogdens received re-ceived a phone call from their son Roger a few nights ago. He had just ended with duties assigned him with the Agnew conference In Palm Springs, Calif., the Land of Sunshine. Mr. and Mrs. Ephrlam Twitchell visited In Delta with his sister Frances and called out to the Rose home Sunday. Miss Cherie Walker is home with her parents for the holiday season ana mia term vacation. Miss Judy May is home for the mid term vacation and far hn Christmas holiday. She will be attending at-tending the USU after Christmas to finish her schooling. - |
