Mr. Blackburn, special services officer at the Utah State Prison, brought three inmates, Joe, Chick, and Dennis to speak to the students Each inmate told his own life story and incidents that led to his becom ing involved in crime and how that crime ruined his life. The pattern of life for all three men was similiar. There was a definite de-finite lack of communication with parents and teachers, coupled with complete disrespect for authority. One inmate said, "People were just a wall as far as I was concerned." All of them started to commit minor offenses early in life, at about eleven or twelve. Each one brought out the fact that he didn't land in prison for one offense and that many agencies and individuals had tried to help him. Faculty and students shared the opinion that the presentation was informative ?nd very thought-provoking. DIIS Hews Items S.O.S.
