Show Millard County Chronicle Oak City News MACEL Mr. Stewart Taylor has been attending at-tending school in Salt Lake to prepare pre-pare him for his new job. Mrs. Taylor Tay-lor accompanied his the first week and his daughters, Bonnie and Dar-lene, Dar-lene, the second week. We wish Stewart much success in his new job. Mrs. Evelyn Ramsey and son, Steven, are visiting her folks, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Walker. Mrs. Ramsey Ram-sey plans on staying a week to help her mother while she is recuperating. re-cuperating. Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson made a trip to the northern part of the state to visit their children, Mau-rine Mau-rine Widdison and family at Spring ville and Floyd Lovell and family at Orem. Marion Ray Anderson, his mother Barbara and Martha Anderson were in Salt Lake Thursday and Friday where Marion had a checkup for his foot. They took a trip out to Lagoon and enjoyed it very much Marion was happy to have his crutch returned to him after losing it from his truck. Barbara brought her daughter, Carol, and Betty Rae Wright home with her for the week end. The Petersons, Walter, Jess, Vir-gina, Vir-gina, Gerald, Janice and Howard were weekend visitors from Salt Lake. Janice stayed for a few days with her grandmother, Aretta Peter son. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Nielson of Tooele visited their . parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milan Jacobson and family fam-ily and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Nielson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Jon Brown returned to their home in Cedar after visiting visit-ing a few days with parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.I. Alldredge Garth Anderson of Boise, Idaho, visited his grandmother, Mrs. Ellis Anderson, Paul and Jeanette. Garth is staying with his grandfather, George Sampson, during the sum mer. About twenty-five boys attended. Howard Dutson, Paul Finlinson, Reece Finlinson and Paul Anderson took the boys to Provo. Mrs. LaMar Anderson of Payson spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Anderson. . Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson are happy to announce the arrival of a new baby girl at the Payson Hos pital Saturday, June 17. The little new comer is the sixth daughter for Fred and Margene, grandparents are Helen Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Talbot have moved into the Esther Christensen home and were surprised by a visit from Ludean's brother and family of Idaho. Mr. Esdras Finlinson and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Finlinson were happy to have Mr. and Mrs. Edward Finlinson Fin-linson and grandson and Mrs. Mel-va Mel-va Day of Fillmore and Mrs. Amy Faust of Salt Lake visiting Saturday Satur-day and Sunday. Miss Annette Rawlinson visited Sunday at the Maiben Jacobson home. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Finlinson visit ed for Father's Day with Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Finlinson. We have had a lot more storm the past week and the hail that hit Thursday did damage to the gardens gar-dens that were already suffering from too much moisture. Isn t that a switch. Mrs. Donna Anderson has been making regular trips to Salt Lake for medical treatment. Hope sne will soon be better. Mrs. Macel Anderson and Paul entertained a number of Paul's chior friends Sunday from Weber Colleee at Ouden. David and Rosemary Lovell call ed to bring greetings to their parents, par-ents, Marvin and Florence Lovell on Father's Day. Rosemary was on her way to spend another week with her mother in Delta. The Relief Society presented little booklets to the Fathers at Sunday School to honor them on Father's Day. A kitchen shower was held at the cultural hall for Miss Jackie Roper Thursday evening. She re ceived many useful gifts and best wishes and everyone had an enjoyable enjoy-able time. Mr. and Mrs. (Marion Larson are visiting with Mrs. Louisa Lovell and will take their daughter home, who has spent some time visiting her grandmother. High Councilman Walter Ekins was a visitor to the Sunday School and Sacrament meeting. Elder Don aid Petersen came ith him and took up part of the meeting. We are always glad to have Mr. Ekins and his group at oi r meetings. Miss Ranae Finlinson wos released from the Sunday School as choirster as she is going away to school. Gay-len Gay-len Nielson will fill the vacancy. Mrs. Emma Talbot was put in as an officer of the Jr. Sunday School. Mr. Clarence East is at Salt Lake taking a course at the University of Utah for the ward during the next week. A nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Wil-lard Wil-lard Christensen, Howard Christensen, Christen-sen, of Reno visited Willard and Genevieve Monday. Tuesday a son, Richard, and family of Salt Lake visited his folks. Mrs. Ranae Christensen and Gene vieve drove to Salt Lake Friday and met Mrs. Ardella Sprong and two children of Livergool, JS'ew York Thursday, June 22, 1967 ANDERSON Ardella will visit her folks for three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Loland Wright of Provo visited Saturday at the Chris- tensen home, Mr. Eldon Anderson and Anita drove to Provo Monday on business Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wright and family spent the afternoon Sunday visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Anderson to honor their father and to bring Betty Rae to start her on the return trip to Salt Lake. According to the measurments at Mervin Alldredges have had 2.10 Inches of moisture since the first of June. However the storm was heavier heav-ier and the hail more profuse in the south part of town, which brot a flood down from the south hills thru the cemetery and out that way The storm seemed to travel north east. Miss Diane Adams visited with her fiance Newell Anderson and Mrs. Helen Anderson over the week end. Leonard Wood and Family Home Agent Says: UTAH GAS TAX REFUND Applications for state gasoline tax refunds are due in the Utah State Tax Commission Office on or before June 30, according to Mar Genne B. Rowley, Millard County extension agent. The period covered is for July 1, 1966, thru December 31, 1966, a change from previous gas tax re- deadlines were September 31 In order for the state to be com patible with the federal gas tax refund procedure, she explained, Utah Legislature authorized a change in covered periods from a fiscal year to a calendar year. Be cause of this, the first refund period under the new law is only for six months. The next refund period will be for the calendar year 1967 and will be due on April 15, 19G8. Utah's gas tax refund cannot be applied to Utah income tax obligations obli-gations as the federal refund can. Refunds cannot be made after June 30, Mrs. Rowley said. "If you haven't received your application forms, see your local county extension exten-sion agent or write to the Tax Com mission." Mar Genne B. Last Tuesday, David Lovell, son of Will and Edith of Tooele was here on furlough from Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He visited with aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Mc-Cann Mc-Cann and grandmother, Millie Lovell. Lo-vell. Sunday, Bud and Margaret and Deaun, Millie Lovell and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Best went to Tooele for a family get-together. They all met at the home of Will Lovell and had a very nice dinner and a nice visit with each other. Mable Harder was in Provo Monday Mon-day on business. Seven tired but happy girls returned re-turned home from Gooseberry MIA Summer Camp last Friday afternoon. after-noon. Those going this year were Brenda Nielson, RiJena Finlinson, Deaun McCann, Margo Nielson, Ilene Lovell, Betty Ann Wichmann and Bessie Hutchinson. Mrs. Glenna Terry and family visited with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Roper last week. A couple of children stayed here. Joe and Nancy Nielson and children child-ren of Granger were down over the weekend visiting with parents, Ken and Ruth Nielson and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nielson. Nancy and children are staying for awhile. Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Nadine) Chap-pel Chap-pel and four children of Henderson, New, visited one day last week with Erva and Randall Bradfield. One of their little girls stayed here with grandma Erva. I went to Salt Lake last Thursday and came hame Friday with Gayl and Marsha and Ann Nelson. Last Saturday Gayl and Marsha went to the wedding reception for a girl friend. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dee Bennett, the former Kathleen Knight. Sunday afternoon, Ann Nelson, Jean Ashby and Gayl Nielson went to Cedar to see their girl friend,' Kara Lee Church and new baby girl. DELTA THIRD WARD FRANCES Mrs. Jennie Largent reports her son, Ted, has been in North Dakota the past two months on extra as- signment for Electronics Communi- cation Program. His 12 year old son, Steven, flew back to meet him and they returned together. Ted is em - ployed at Hill Field and at home has the very interesting hobby of raising mink. ' Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Bonnie) Car ter and daughters, Stacy and Shan non, flew down to visit parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Willden over the week end. Paul has recently received his pilot license so took all the family members for a spin. Naomi Ross, Marilyn and Gloria Hare each enjoyed en-joyed a "first" air plane ride. Mrs. Al Willden took her father, Mr. Wilford McClellen, to Payson where they attended funeral ser vices for his eldest brother, Lorenzo Carrol McClellan, who was 90 years old. Mr. Wilford McClellan stayed In Orem to visit his only surviving sister, Mrs. Alta Gummersol, whom he1 hadn't seen nearly 40 years. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tullis and daughter, Debra, of Omaha, Neb., visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don T. Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Christensen were also visitors Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Don T. Bishop at tended the NCAA Tournament at the BYU and were guests of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce (Margaret Sanderson) Taylor and children have returned to Grantsville after a two week visit at the Sandersons and Lionel Taylors. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon (Karen San derson) Talbot were in Panguitch visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Talbot and to bring their sons, Michael and Richard Lee home from a visit of ten days. Mr. and Mrs. David (Rosemary) Lovell were here fcr the weekend. Karen and Rosemary plan to stay for awhile with their mom, Bernice Sanderson, who has asked .veryone be thanked for each kindness and thoughtfullness during this recent sorrow. She says friends are wonderful. won-derful. Don't forget to be one. Mrs. Bob Barber and tiny daughter, daugh-ter, Shannon, have visited her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe D. Cor-bett Cor-bett and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barber Bar-ber this past week. They took little sister, Cherie Corbett back with them for a ten day visit. Royal and Kent Gardner spent the weekend with mom, Alice, and Carrol. Mrs. Alta Ashby attended Gene ology Seminar at BYU this week. Mrs. Ivo Ogden accompanied her. Mr. and Mrs. Gary (Susan) Gard ner visited with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ashby and Mr. and Mrs. Evan Gardner over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Sherm Perkins are enjoying a visit from son, Dean, who has employment in Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Sherm Perkins spent the weekend with daughter, Mrs Cloyd (Connie) Theobald and child ren in Tooele while Cloyd was at Nat l Guard Camp. Mrs. Earl (Lilac) Holman reports Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marsing of Ogden spent Sunday with the Hol- mans looking at maps and rocks. WANDA NIELSON Hattie Anderson spent part of last weekin Provo with friends and relatives celebrating her birthday on June 12. Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Luella) Barton and family of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Dutson and family, Mrs.Vanganora, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Dutson and family and Mr. and Mrs Carton Tucker and daughter of Kaysville (Eva's sister) visited over the weekend at the home of Bishop and Mrs. Rulon Dutson. Rex Finlinson was home over the weekend with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walker Finlinson. Rex is working in Duchesne and staying with his brother, Neil. Nyra and baby, Rory, visited with us Sunday afternoon. She is teaching teach-ing summer kindergarten in Mona. We've had so much rain this spring, I'm afraid 1st crop hay is ruined. I Mr. and Mrs. Walt Esklund of Seipio. and daughter, Jane, and children of Roy, visited with Clau-dine Clau-dine and Bill and other relatives Sunday. A Father's Day program was given giv-en in Sunday School last Sunday. All the young folks did their parts real cute. LYNNDYL LAURA BRADFIELD Mrs. Eva Dean Moody of Sutherland Suther-land visited our ward Relief Society Tuesday and showed a film on cancer. Carol Ann Nielson spent last week at the Gooseberry Youth Camp. Mrs. Eleanor Nielson entertained the Lynndyl-Leamington Birthday Rook Club last week. Mvrtle Niel son and Lorraine Stephenson were the birthday guests, Alpha Nielson and Eunice Nielson were special guests. Erva Bradfield won the prize forhigh score and Eunice Nielson was low. Jannet and Pat Nielson, daughters daugh-ters of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Nielson, have good jobs in Palo Alto, Calif. Sunday they visited with Kathryn Nielson and husband. It's always a pesure to hear that our youth are making good. The following girls from Lynndyl and Leamington spent last week in Oak City Canyon, Dena Harder, Nyla Nielson, Phyllis Nielson, Valerie Val-erie Tolbert. Judy Nielson, Renae Simpson and Kay Nielson. In spite of the rain, the girls had a real AREA NEWS BRIEFS WHICKER Mr. Eugene Holman brought his tons, Todd and Clay, for a week visit with parents, Mr. and Mrs Earl Holman. Eugene is attending 1 summer school also working on his Disseration and will receive his ; Doctorate in Education this fall. Home for Father's Day was Mava Whicker at the R. C. Whickers. Mrs. Fern Mortensen, Paul, Jill and Cheryl spent the weekend with mother, Mrs. Amanda Whicker, and visited brothers, Cleo and Wallace, and families and friends. We were happy to salute fathers on their day and it was a beautiful day. We had had 14 straight days with rain so the sun was really a welcome Father's Day gift. Mrs. Jennie Largent was visited by nephews, Leo Hollingshead of Baaumont, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hollingshead of Downy, Calif., over the weekend. Leo has six daughters, one tiny baby was the reason his wife wasn't with him. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Ivie entertained enter-tained Mr. and Mrs. Clark Ivie, Mrs. Largent, JoAnn Empy and the Holl-ingsheads Holl-ingsheads for Father's Day dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holman celebrated cele-brated Father's Day in Oak Creek Canyon, sons, Kim, of CSU and Ladd Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holman and children, Pam, Scott, and Julie Ann; Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Iris) Harris and children, Kevin, Michelle, Dana and Shaun; Lilac's mom, Mrs. E. M. Keppler; Mrs. Hilda Thompson, April and Ronnie Dawson, Mrs. Al-thea Al-thea Crapo, all enjoyed a lovely luncheon and report a perfect day, no flies, no bugs, no rain, no sweaters. swea-ters. Lilac says there is an abundance abun-dance of water in the creek, so unusual un-usual these past few years. Sunday evening program, J. Grant Moody and Janet Jefffery spoke, Elsie McCullough, Kathy Wright, and Kent Gardner told of the val ues of the BYU. Royal Gardner told of experiences wit h the Peace Corps in Malaysia. We are happy to report Mrs. Susie Sampson is again at her home in our ward. Also wonderful to know George Sampson is at his home once again. Good news, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Knight have moved into their new home on Center Street. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Knight have son, Mr. and Mrs. N. Bryce Knight and 3 year old son, Shaun Matt, visting them. Bryce attends George Washington University Law school. Mrs. Blanche Lomkin and Mrs. Eva Adams of Bonanza, Oregon, New-ell's New-ell's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Knight and children, Cathy and Andy, of Winslow, Ariz.; Mr. and Richard Hansen and Mrs. Rachel Spor and children, Sandra and Mich ael, Mr. and Mrs. Tex Searle and children, Douglas, Vicki, and Kevin, all came for the wedding of Kathleen Kath-leen Knight and Carl Dee Bennett, son of Mr., and Mrs. Carl W. Bennett. Ben-nett. They were married in the First Ward Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. by Bp. Killpack. We wish them happiness. Mrs. Alfred (Marie) Lake spent a few days in Grantsville with dau ghter, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald (Susan) Peterson visiting the new granddaughter, grand-daughter, born June 6 and weighing 6 lbs. and 11 ozs. Mr. and Mrs. Scott (Barbara) Anderson An-derson and children, Dean and Julie, visited with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Nels Anderson. They had been to the Loveland reunion. Two young cowboys, Wonnie Peters and Doug Nielson, were on their horses, Paint and White Cloud Monday morning. White Cloud ; jumped a ditch and Doug was thrown off. He was brought to town by Al Harder. His mother, Mrs. Keith Nielson, took him to Nephi to the doctor.
