Show Millard County Chronicle Second Ward News EDDYS BARBEN Dr. r.arth II. Black and wife, Dix ie, nnd sons, Bryan and Kevin vis ited with Dr. Black's family, Mr and Mrs. Golden H. Black for sev oral days. They arrived in Delta Thursday and left Saturday for Salt Lake to visit Mrs. Black's mother. Knroute to their Los Altos, Calif, home, Dr. and Mrs. Black and sons slopped at Yellowstone for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Raymon Marigle-son Marigle-son and son, Scott and daughter, Kelie Ann arrived in Delta Saturday Satur-day to visit with Mrs. Mangleson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Golden H. Black and Golda Jane for a week. Mrs. Dorothy H. Theobald and son Michael just returned from a vacation in Anchorage, Alaska, where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Henderson and son, Eric. They report they enjoyed Anchorage Anchor-age and the beautiful scenery. It was a most interesting and enjoyable enjoy-able trip and a good fishing area. While in Anchorage they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Claude Robinson and family; also, Mr. Kernell who was Mike's 6th grade teacher. They flew from Anchorage to Juneau, From Juneau they took the Alaskan Alask-an Ferry to Prince Rupert; from there they took the new British Columbia Ferry to Kelsey Bay and a bus on to Victoria, B.C. In Victoria Vic-toria they enjoyed a tour of the city and visited the famous Butch-art Butch-art Gardens and the Parliament Bldg. From Victoria they took the liner Princess Marquerite to Seattle where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fuller. From Seattle they were lucky to get 2 tickets on the West Coast Airlines to Salt Lake. They were met by Mir. Paul Theobald Theo-bald and returned to Delta. The Jolly Stitcher's Club held its annual August lawn party at the 2nd ward church Saturday evening. even-ing. Potluck supper and Hawaiian entertainment by the Esplin sisters sis-ters was enjoyed. A larger crowd was expected but those attending had a lovely evening. Mr. and Mrs. 0. R. Holt just returned re-turned from a wonderful vacation. First visited their son, Lee and his family in the East, had a lot of sight-seeing, including a tornado, which was a real experience. Returned Re-turned home, packed the car, and, with Mrs. Holt's sister, Melva 01-scn 01-scn of Orange Ville, Utah, left for the Northwest toward Yellowstone Park; visited Mrs. Holt's brother, Jerry Nielson in Anaconda, Mont.; saw the big open pit copper pit in Butte; abig forest fire out of con-ttol con-ttol and many other interesting things. Toured the Glacier Park; drove along the Canadian border to Bonner Ferry in Idaho; from there to Spokane, Wash., and to the Grand Coulee Dam. This was one of the highlights of the vacation. vaca-tion. It's something to see. Started down the Columbia River route to Portland, but traffic was almost bumper to bumper, got tired, turner1 turn-er1 back and came home, stayed a day then went fishing on For-sythe For-sythe Reservoir for three days. Three children of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Lyman, Joe, Ruth Anne and Mary, students at BYU, visited this weekend in Delta with their parents par-ents and family members. Mrs. Gwen McEvoy of Dugway visited 2 days last week with her mother, Mrs. Abbie Prestwich and sisters, Nelda and Zolet. Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Stoddard attended at-tended the William Burgess reunion at Huntington Canyon last week. The S.O. Stoddard family ' were happy to have as visitors last Tuesday Tues-day and Wednesday, the A. L. Hen-fling Hen-fling family of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ok-lahoma. Mr. Henfling and Mr. Stoddard were war buddies in A-laska A-laska for 4 years. Wednesday, they went out to Lehman Caves. Miss Ruth Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Adams, returned re-turned to her home Saturday night, from a G week's stay in Tremon-ton Tremon-ton with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Larson (Martha Mae Adams). Linda Kay Barben spent 2 days last week in Salt Lake visiting with Miss Judy Callister. Mr. and Mrs. Garth Leishman spent Friday and Saturday in Monroe Mon-roe visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Goold. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Barben and Linda Kay spent Saturday in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Randall attended at-tended meetings in our ward. Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Hansen, Margaret and her friends had a nice trip up to Yellowstone Park. Mrs. Keith Barben visited in Delta Del-ta with hisparents and Linda Kay. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Shirl Pace on the safe arrival of their new son. He was named Sunday Sun-day by an uncle, James Nickle. Miss Gwen Stephenson just returned re-turned home from a 2-week stay visiting and participating in the Hill Cumorah Pageant in N. Y. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harlo and daughter, Elizabeth visited with Ardylhe's mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Twitchell. The Twit-chells Twit-chells also have their grandson, Ned Searle visiting from Kearns. Visiting at the home of the Ward Moodys, Thursday and Friday, were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Murray of Myton. Mrs. Ralph Lassiter of Salt Lake and a missionary working with the Ward Moodys in the Cook Islands, is here working in Delta and living liv-ing with the Moodys. Mr. and Mrs. David Moody and family visited in Alamosa, Colo., J with the McDaniels (Jnnices fam ily) for a week or so. A party was given for Mr. and; Mrs. Grant Snow at the home of I Mr. and Mrs. Ward Moody, Thurs-' day night, slides of New Zealand were shown. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Spencer were in Salt Lake on business Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Parry Taylor and 2 girls, Tammy and Margie went out to Deep Creek (Ibapah), Wednesday Wednes-day and returned Friday. Ken Frederikson and family of Vernon visited Blaine Larson and his wife, Dorothy, Aug. 6 and 7. Vicki Labrum of Meadow has been in Hinckley visiting Diane Lar son and Vicki Bishop this week. Sunday, in Sacrament meeting, 2 babies were blessed: the son of Duane and ElDean Ekins was given the name of Kirk Duane. The baby daughter of Colleen and Floyd Dut-son Dut-son was named Lisa Colleen. Both babies were blessed by their fathers Mary Kae Morris was confirmed in Fast Meeting by her father, Eugene Eu-gene Morris. The Steweart family reunion was held at Meadow, Saturday. One of the outstanding events was an auc tion sale held after dinner and a meeting. The articles were donated by family members and money will go for research. Attending from Hinckley were Clara Stewart, Golda Talbot, son Jim; Carol Bishop and daughter, Vicki; Randle and Oleta Swensen and daughter, Diane. Also, Al-so, Mr. and Mrs. Pearson (Pete) Stewart of Las Vegas. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hardy of Spanish Fork drove down to Hinckley, Hinck-ley, Saturday, and visited friends and relatives. They have been staying at their son, Howard's home. They also attended the open house for Ray Bishop and wife on Monday evening. Mrs. Cherol Blake and children have been in Hinckley several days this week. They brought Mrs. Clar-risa Clar-risa Blake home. She had been staying with the Blakes in Brig- nam City. Miss Joan Bartholomew accompanied accomp-anied Elaine Hardy to Hinckley from Fillmore, Wednesday and returned re-turned home with her Thursday. She stayed Wednesday night with the Hardys. Lyle Stanworth and family enjoyed en-joyed a visit from his brother, Max and family of Magna, Saturday. Ciuff Talbot went to Cedar City on business, Sunday. Ronald Spencer celebrated his 5th birthday, Saturday, Aug. 6 with a party. Little guests were: Kerry Manis, Skip Taylor, Danny Bliss, Geniel Peterson, Elizabeth Bennett and Julie Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. Loren Dutson entertained en-tertained members of their family at a picnic dinner, Sunday. Present Pres-ent were: Colleen, Floyd and family; fam-ily; Dennis, Chris Dutson of Salt Lake; Carl, Valyn and children, Jean Parker and Floyd. Cecil Losee and 5 boys, Ervin Jeffery and 2 boys and Fay Jacob- son left for the high Uintah's and Rainbow Lake. They have to pack in on horses for 30miles from the road. They will be gone a week. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Moody, Saturday, was G. Gardner Snow of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Losee and Mrs. Lemira Bishop attended the Concert and Music Clinic at BYU last Friday night. Their son, Paul had been in Provo for 2 weeks attending at-tending this clinic. He played 1st music in the Symphonic Band and also played in the dance orchestra. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Senior (sister to Verdella Adams) of Salt Lake, and children have been visiting in Delta with the John Adams fam ily. Some of the Senior children have been here 2 weeks. Nolan Adams spent Saturday and Sunday in St. George visiting with Julie McGregor, who just returned from Europe where she had been attend ing summer school and touring. Bishop and Mrs. Norman Gardner Gard-ner and Ann Sorenson of St. George Geo-rge just returned from a 2-week's trip back to the Hill Cumorah Pageant. Pag-eant. They visited at Mason City, Iowa with Norman's sister, Mrs. Gladys Merrinian: visited New York and all the Church historical spots of interest. They went to Niagra Falls, Canada, Washington, D.C., visited Kennedy's grave, the Capitol Cap-itol Bldg. and met Verna's brother, Arnold Schlappi, of Misoula, Mont., unexpectedly at the Pageant. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gardner made the trip with them. They all attended a testimony meeting at the Sacred Grove, where Henry D. Taylor wai one of he speakers. Mr. and Mrs. Duane (Judy Mc-Call) Mc-Call) Watts and children, Gary and Wayne, visited with their parents, Mrs. Lenore McCall and Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Watts this weekend. Their baby was blessed and given the name of Wade Dale in meeting, meet-ing, Sunday. Anita McCall was at home this weekend from the BYU, with her mother and family. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Kimber are moving back to Delta. Boyd is now working at the Lovell & Roper, Inc. as parts man. They will live at the Albert Kimber farm home. Mr. and Mrs. Gale Farnsworth of Huntsville were visitors at the Albert Al-bert Kimber home, Saturday. M. and Mrs. Kimber have bought the Joe Harris home across the street from the 2nd ward church. Bishop Anthony Stephenson is real happy to have his wife, Adelia back home in Delia after a long stay in Salt Lake with her daughter. daugh-ter. He reports she is feeling mucn better. Son, DeVon and his wife, Ramae were here Friday. It was Ted's birthday and Edith entertained en-tertained them. Also, Jay and La-Kue La-Kue Bishop of Kontana, Calif.; Sylvia Syl-via and Louise, daughters of the Hebu- Bishops, here visiting; R. and Arvilla Swensen, and Mrs. Theo ELis and children of Oak City. That evening, Theo stayed to have birthday birth-day supper to help celebrate her father's birthday. Saturday, another anoth-er son of the Dennison's, Harold, and wife, Elaine and daughter were here to see their parents. They are from Salt Lake. Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Petersen drove to Salt Lake to take their daughter, Mrs. Val Mason and young son. Val took a plane from there home to Seattle after having visited with her parents for the past two weeks. The West Millard Riding Club did themselves proud at the Meet in Payson, 5 out of 6 first places. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Morris attended at-tended the Riding Club Meet at Payson and enjoyed it immensely. Mrs. Palsy McCormick of St. George Geo-rge came to Hinckley this weekend to get her two children who have been staying with their grandparents, grandpar-ents, Mr. and Mrs. DanaPratt. She returned home Sunday. Her sister, Marcia returned with her. Mrs. Vi Robinson has had her daughter and family of 4 children to stay with her for several days, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Gunn of Concord, Con-cord, Calif. Eiaine Hardy attended a Relief Society social in Fillmore, Tuesday, and presented several students in a dance number on the program. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Swensen of Salt Lake were Hinckley visitors Saturday and Sunday, at the Randle Ran-dle Swensen home. Judd Hardy of Salt Lake is here a few days at his parent's home, the Carl Hardys. He is working on the high school in Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Talbot drove to Meadow, Sunday and visited relatives for the afternoon. The R. L. Swensens were visitors in McGill, Nevada last week. The Eugene Morris family left Tuesday morning to vacation for several days. Beautiful flowers are enjoyable to everyone. Mrs. Arvilla Workman arranges her flowers and regularly brings them to church for everyone to see and enjoy which we certainly cer-tainly do. It's nice to have a person who remembers to do this faithfully faith-fully for others to share the fruits ot her labor. If anyone else has flowers from time to time, feel free to bring them to church to display. They are enjoyed and appreciated. Miss Joan Sorenson of Manti, sister sis-ter of Mrs. Lawanna Peterson, visited vis-ited with the Peterson family recently. re-cently. Friday, Joan, her fiance, Than Larson and her brother Reid, came to Hinckley to attend the wedding reception for Paula Galli and Craig Hardy, Saturday night. Joan sat at the guest book. Barbara and Jimmy Dutson have returned home after having spent the past weekin Price with grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Draper and Jeannie. Leslie Diehl was down to see her family, the Ken Damrons. She lives in Salt Lake. Mrs. Lawanna Peterson and children chil-dren left Monday to go to Manti to spend several days. Vera and Heber Bishop have had several members of their family at their home this week: Jay, their son, his wife and two children; Joan and Gary of Fontana, Calif. Also, Lars Bishop of Payson. Sharilyn Hardy went to Salt Lake Sunday to spend a week with Sharon Shar-on and family. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hardy, Hol-lie Hol-lie Manis and Deon Talbot returned home, Sunday, from a trip to Yellowstone Yel-lowstone Park. Darrell andAlice Gaye Scow were here over the weekend to see Alice Bliss. Sunday, Alice returned to Salt Lake with them for a few days visit. Newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Hardy were honored Saturday evening ev-ening at a wedding reception at the Relief Society room. A large crowd attended and the couple received re-ceived many lovely gifts. Some of the out-of-town people attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E. AT THE BEELINE STATION A ho, Custom Wax Jobs First Ward News Attending a Gardner Family reunion re-union at Downey, Calif, were Mr. and Mrs. Fenlon Gardner and son, Richard and his daughter, Kathy, and Jay and his daughter, Oralin of Richfield. Mrs. Dorothy Gardner of Delta and Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Cropper Crop-per and two daughters of Ogden also attended. The Utah family members returned to their homes leaving Mrs. Fenton Gardner and Mrs. Dorothy Gardner for a longer visit. Mrs. Fenton Gardner's sun, took his mother and aunt on a trip up the Calif, coast before they returned re-turned home. The reunion was held at the home of Maryetta and Ray Forman. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Cole have received re-ceived word from their daughter, Elaine Engstrom that she and her husband, Lt. (jg) J. M. Engstrom will arrive in San Francisco, Claif. next Sunday after being two years at Guam. Lt. Engstrom will receive his discharge from the service and plans to attend S'.anford University. Univer-sity. They will visit in Delta with Mrs. Engstrom's parents as soon as they get settled in Calif. Mrs. Dennis Newbold and children child-ren visited in Delta last week with her parents, Mf. and Mrs. Wallace Jeffery. She returned to her home hi Salt Lake Sunday, taking a niece, Camille Riding, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kennard Riding, home with her for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. Kennard Riding and son, Steven and daughter, Marcia, went to Polacca, Arizona Friday to take Mr. and Mrs. Riding's foster Indian son, Byron Tahbo to visit with his grandmother until school begins later ths month. While in Polacca, Mr. and Mrs. Riding and children saw ceremonial Indian dances and attended church services serv-ices at the LDS branch there. They returned home Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Maxfield returned re-turned home Saturday from a combined com-bined business and vacation trip to Kansas City, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Pratt and daughter, Melissa, of Salt Lake were weekend visitors at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John I. Pratt. They came especially for their two oldest children, Michelle and Steve who have been visiting their grandparents the past week. Severely Bishop. The open house for Ray Bishop and his bride, Beverly Fullmer of Idaho was a lovely affair, held outside out-side on the lawns of the Verdell Bishop home. It was a bautiful evening ev-ening and the surroundings for the affair made it especially nice. Grant, Elaine and Sharilyn Hardy Har-dy were in Heber and Kamas Satur day. They visited Tom and Karen Simpson and family. Parry Taylor has been recuper ating from an operation on his leg necessitated by a knee injury he sustained several weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Ekins and small baby son have been Hinckley visitors this week at the Walter Ekins Ek-ins and Floyd Greener homes. Dennis and Christ Dutson ofSalt Lake are staying at the Ray Dutson Dut-son home. A number of 4-H boys and girls from Hinckley enjoyed the 3-day outing in Oak City Canyon. Rain, Tuesday evening changed a few plans. Valyn Dutson's group had their props for their skit ruined and were unable to present it. One group of boys took refuge in Va-lyn's Va-lyn's pick-up. Groups gathered and doubled up in available tents. One group of leader Betty Jane Morris packed all their wet bedding into her camper. During the night two girls decided they could better the situation. They dug a hole in the ground and made a fire in it and sat up he rest of the night in a lawn chair infront of the fire to keep warm. Most of the next morn ing was spent in improvising some clotheslines to hold soaked clothing cloth-ing and bedding and getting mud off and out of everything. The inconvenience in-convenience of all this was soon forgotten and the rest of the camp-oree camp-oree was enjoyed to the utmost. Wayne and Russell Robinson, the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Robinson Rob-inson of Orem, have been staying with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Meacham this week. Beth Hepworth attended the wed ding reception for Ray Bishop on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Verdell Bishop and family reurned home from Menan, Idaho after the temple wedding and reception for their son, Ray and Beverly Fullmer. They were married mar-ried in the Idaho Falls Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Norris Fullmer of Menan, Idaho were in Hinckley for the open house for their daughter, Beverly and Ray Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. Gaylen Cropper attended at-tended the Riding Club Meet and Rodeo at Payson, Saturday. Mrs. Evelyn Morris reports that their son, Eddie, graduated today, Aug. 11 as Hospital Corpsman, and will be stationed in Washington, D. C. in a hospital there for a year. He is going to spend a week between be-tween assignments with his brother, bro-ther, Sid and family in Burlington, Vermont. When he gets back to his base, he will be stationed about 30 miles from Maryland, where his buddy Fred Works is stationed. John Henry Western along with his daughter, Ruth Talbot, were featured in a special interest article arti-cle in the Salt Lake Tribune, Sunday, Sun-day, Aug. 7.
