Show Millard County Chronicle Thursday, July 30, 1964 FIRST WARD AREA HEWS BRIEFS LEONA WORKS The granddaughters of Wm. Os car Sperry met at the home of Mrs, Dilworth Walkers in Salt Lake for a luncheon. Mrs. Fenton Gardner is one of the granddaughters and the reason for this meeting was a reunion to obtain genealogy of the family. Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Gardner left by train Tuesday night to go to iLos Angeles where they will meet their son Lynn. From there they will fly with a group from the 8th Ward of Los Angeles to New York where they will visit the World's Fair and go to see the Hill Cumor ah Pageant. Mrs. Dewaine . Christensen and family of four girls of Carson City, Nevada visited in Delta with her mother, Mrs. Leah Christensen and sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Church. She left for home Monday, July 20th. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Western Sunday were Mr, and Mrs. James Munson and fam ily of Tropic. They came to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Munson and daughter Ann and to see their new grandson. Dwaine Jackson and Beniti Hardy visited over the 24th in Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. LaVerl Jackson and family. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Maxfield and family is Mrs. Max-field's Max-field's mother, Mrs. Docia Dana. Mrs. Dana just recently lost hex husband. Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fay Walker were Mrs. Nels Peterson and children. They were staying here after bringing their son Lowell home from the Nephi hospital where he had had a tonsillectomy. They are now at Bea ver where they attended the horse race meet held their last weekend. Their two-year-old colt "Robin Delight" De-light" won the race that they enter ed it in. Theywill be at Richfield this weekend.' Also visiting with them for the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Renn Goulding and son Steven of Salt Lake City. Pearl Jeffery spent the weekend in Delta visiting with her mother, Mrs. Adaline Jeffery. Visiting over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. John Swalberg were friends from Springville, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Long. Visiting last week with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas was their son Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thomas and family fa-mily of Sacramento, Calif. While they were here they spent a day in Oak City Canyon where the five Thomas boys all visited: Buss, Jack. Bob, Bill and Jim. It was a real time they had. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sagers enter tained Mr. and Mrs. Fera Little and Mr. and Mrs. John Swalberg at breakfast at Oak City Canyon on the 24th of July. , Mrs. Fera Little and Mrs. Sher man (Dona) Little went to Cedar City last Monday to the Shake spearean play, "The Twelfth Night' These plays are under the direction of Prof. Fred Adams. Mrs. Emily Bunker hasn't been feeling good for the last week. We sure hope she is soon better. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Iverson and Nadine spent the weekend in Salt Lake visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Dutson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wood. They watched the parade and saw the Delta band march. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bishop and Janice spent the 24th weekend in Salt Lake and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ford Whicker and family. This piece was handed to me by Mrs. Leah Christensen and was sent to her by her son, Homer, who with his family lives in Phoenix, Ariz.: A Canadian soil scientist, a far mer, Dr. F. Lyle Wind, who operates the Maple Leaf Soil Laboratories, in Wallaceburg, Ontario is in Phoe nix this month. The purpose of his visit is to form an association be tween his laboratory and Farm Builders In., of which Homer Chris tensen is the manager. Its nice to hear from people and know they're where-abouts and what they are doing. SEC02ID WARD AREA HEWS BRIEFS LUCILE KIMBER Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bar ben and children, Michael and Kristy of Brigham City spent Sunday with his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bar-ben Bar-ben and Linda. Lawrence and Lavina Bunker spent the 24th in Salt Lake with their daughter and family, Merve and Marlene Williams. They brot two of their grandchildren, Lori Ann and Wayne Williams home with them for a visit. Val Bunker spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. 'Lawrence Bunker. Val is attending summer school at Weber College in Ogden. Bishop George Stoddard and his wife Selma and children, Diane, Cherie, David, Douglas and Bart of Salmon, Idaho are visiting with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Steve 0. Stoddard for the past week. Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Stoddard had a family get-together last Thursday Thurs-day at a dinner served at Hatch's City Cafe. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. George Stoddard and family fa-mily and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stoddard Stod-dard of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Lloyd of Pay son and their granddaughter Linda Lloyd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niel Lloyd of Springville spent part of a day last week with A. L. Kim-ber Kim-ber and his sister, Irene Sampson and George. - i -'-- Mrs. Aza Feats and soil spent the 24th in Salt Lake with her daughter, daugh-ter, Charlotte Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Bishop and children Joan, Duane Ricky, Jean and Jill returned last week from a ten-day vacation trip. They went to Grand Couleee Dam, then on into Spokane, Wash, to visit their daughter daug-hter Judy and husband Grover Garvin. Gar-vin. On their return trip they toured thru Yellowstone Park. They reported report-ed a very wonderful time. Douglas and Bonnie Robison of Provo spent last weekend with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. June Black and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Robison and Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Swalberg, Paul, Dean and Tod, took their camper July 20th for a three-day camping and fishing trip. They went to Cedar Breaks, Navaho Lake, Lake Powell, Page, Ariz., and Grand Canyon. They had a very enjoyable trip. Glen and Helen took Paul and David Jeffery, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldro Jeffery to Scout Camp at Maple Ma-ple Dell where Paul was a Junior Officer. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Swalberg, Dean and Tod spent two days in Salt Lake last week on business and pleasure. Mr. and Mrs. Kimball Hansen and family of Provo spent last weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hen-ry Hansen. Kimball gave a very interesting in-teresting class discussion on Astronomy Astro-nomy and space travel in our Sunday Sun-day School. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Stephensen and family spent the 24th in Salt Lake City. Stanley and Betty Black of Bur-bank, Bur-bank, Calif, and John and Dorothy Teichert and their six children of Cokeville, Wyo., visited with their mother, Mrs. Deona Black. Mrs. Deona Black and her daughters, daug-hters, Lorene Smith, Cheryl Roper and Pauline Tolbert went to Price where they were met by Keith Tolbert. Tol-bert. He took his wife and baby back home to Riref, New Mexico. Pauline 'has been visiting for the past few weeks.: Golden and Loa Black and Deona Black and Cheryl Roper attended the funeral of Wilford C Larson in Salt Lake July 27th. He was their brother-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Virt Barney and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Barney and family fam-ily spent four days last week with Vert's brothers, Mr. and Mrs. J. Reid Barney and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Barney along with their families in Sheridan, Wyo. and another brother Avon at Ranchester, Wyo. They enjoyed en-joyed visiting and fishing. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barney enter tained their brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Barney at dinner Sunday before they returned to their home in California. J. Miss Catherine Callister and M'ss Kathy McCormick are spending a few days with Kathy's brother's family in St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCormick. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hardy from Draper spent Saturday and Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sorenson. They drove their new Ford Mustang they won at the 24th celebration drawing at Draper. Dra-per. Congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warnick and daughter Janet of American Fork accompanied Bert and Nell Soren son on July 23 to Lehman Caves, It v. as a pleasant way to celebrate Mary's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Whicker took a three-day scenic tour of southern Idaho going as far up as Boise. They visited Jack Pot, Nev. and western Utah. Loretta said it was a very beautiful drive. Mrs. Fern Mortensen a'ong with her children and Connie Whicker spent two days at Cedar Breaks. Keith Jeffery, son of Irvin Jeffery, Jef-fery, has returned home from Valley Val-ley Forge where he attended the National Scout Jamboree. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Warenski and children Carolynn, Renee and Richard Rich-ard of Salt Lake spent the weekend week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kimber and to attend her brother's mission report. Also here for Boyd's report were Mr. and Mrs. DaWayne Kimber and four sons Ray, James, David, Steven and Vaughn of Price and Mr. and Mrs. Gale Farnsworth and children Ja net, Kathleen, LuAnn and Michael Of Mesquite, Nevada. Mrs. Hilda Gillen of Midvale is here visiting with her daughter Beryl and Wayne Sorenson and family. fa-mily. Miss Murna Clements and Miss Suzanne Sorenson spent the weekend week-end in Salt Lake. They marched with the band in the parade and then spent a couple of days with their sisters, Deana and Christine. Miss Ruth Hansen and Miss Margaret Mar-garet Hansen and Miss Julia Bogh have returned home from their extensive ex-tensive tour of Mexico. They reported re-ported having a wonderful trip, but I didn't get a chance to get any details. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hansen went to Provo Sunday with Kimball and family where they will also visit Chris and Dorothy' and their family. Marlene Bogh was home last weekend with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Bogh and grandmother, Mrs. Maida Parker. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Dahltren and children Adele, Nelson, Vickie 1 and cousin Pam Ogden of Whittier, Calif." are visiting with their niece and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bunker. The Elmer Robisons held a family fa-mily reunion July 23 at Liber.y Park in Salt Lake. Those attending were Douglas and Bonnie, Donald and Elaine, Blaine and Barbara and their families, Evan and his friend Betty Henager, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nor-man Gardner and Veda's sister, Mrs. Bertrice Erlckson. I'm sure there is more news, but I've been too involved with all my family at home to dig it out. Wish to take this opportunity to thank all our friends in and out of the ward for their attendance at our son's mission report. It w a s very thoughtful of you all.
