Show FIRST WARD AREA IIEVS BRIEFS LEONA WORKS Joseph Graff, age 81, a former Delta resident, died last Monday at his home in Riverton of natural causes. He and his wife Effie May Mangum lived in Delta years ago. He was survived by his wife and one son, Cameron Graff. Attending funeral services last Wednesday for their uncle were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rob-ert Webb and Mrs. P. W. Watts. Mrs. Carrie Black returned home Wednesday night after a stay of four days in Salt Lake for medical treatment. Joyce Sattley of Mesquite, Nev. spent last week visiting with Sharon Sha-ron Hopkins and the family of Brog Hopkins. Joyce lived with the Hopkins Hop-kins and went to Delta High School the year of 1962-63. Visiting with Debra and Jacquie Hopkins is a little friend, Debra Van Horn. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Van Horn of Warn Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cole and son, Mike of Phoenix, Ariz, are here visiting vis-iting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. .Cole and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Peterson and family and for Elaine's wedding. Kathy and Mike were here Thursday for the tea and Ed came Friday night. They will stay until after the wedding Tuesday. Other out of town people to attend the tea were Mr. and Mrs. U. V. Engstrom of Venezuella, Mrs. Joe Anderson, of Wenatchee, Wash, and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hilton Hil-ton and family of Las Vegas. It was good to see Mrs. Alice Bennett out to Sunday School. She has been living up north and is here visiting with her children, Mr. and Mrs. Max Bennett and family, Mrs. Clara Bennett and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clemont Bennett and family fa-mily and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bennett and family. Mr. and Mrs. Launy Hansen and family of Klamath Falls, Oregon are visiting for a week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Iver-son. Iver-son. Also spending the weekend with the Iversons were Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Dutson and .family of Salt Lake City. i Mr. and Mrs. Wells Kenney of Holden visited with us Sunday afternoon. af-ternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Westerman and niece Jo Lisa Katsos of Kearns and Mrs. Mary Sue Westerman of Magna spent the weekend in Delta visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Rex Sper ry and Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Sperry and family. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Jensen of Rockland, Rock-land, Idaho spent the weekend in Delta with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jen sen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Jeffery and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jensen were in Rupert, Idaho to attend funeral services for an uncle, John Hansen. Mr. Hansen was a Delta resident some years ago when the late Edgar Ed-gar W. Jeffery was on a mission to England. He came and run his farm for him. Mary Jane Jeffery of Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Jeffery were in St. George Friday to attend grad uation exercises for Carol Ann, who graduated with a commercial art major. Mr. and Mrs. Seth Jackson and Sheldon were in Cedar City last Thursday where Dwaine graduated from CSU after two years. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hawley and family are spending the summer in Delta after attending school at the U. of U. VeAnn Draper is home from teaching school in the Granite District. Dis-trict. Students that I say home for the summer were Velma Kay and Larry Odean, Jerry Huff, Delene Ashby, Dwaine Jackson, Robert Barber, Harold Knight, Robert Riding and Carol Ann Jeffery. Craig Hardy and Larry Odean left Delta Monday morning to work on the railroad in Salt Lake. Bob Bennett Ben-nett is in Las Vegas seeing about work. Mr. and Mrs. L'onel Taylor, Judy and Sherrie and Mrs. Bruce Taylor visited last week in Boulder, Colo, with Capt. and Mrs. Ray Stephenson Stephen-son and family.. Mrs. Stephenson and children returned to Delta with the Taylors and went on to Cedar City where she will visit with Ray's folks, the Tony Stephensons. They will come back to Delta and visit for a week before returning to Boulder. The Bee Hive Girls and Maribah Winsor, an MIA Maid, left for the girls' camp at Gooseberry this morn ing. They will be gone for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sogers returned return-ed home after a vacation trip thru the Northwest. They went into Bremerton Bre-merton and Seattle, Wash., where they visited with Earl's aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Art Peck and Mrs. Frank Allen and family. They came on down to Euphrata and stayed over night with Mr. and Mrs. Red Van, who sends greetings to all their friends here at Delta. Came on down thru Idaho and stayed in Provo over night with Mr. and Mrs. Marlow Sagers. Visiting with Mrs. Nora Knight for ten days was her daughter Rhea of Long Beach, Calif. Also for a short visit was a grandson, Bruce Brough and son Mr. and Mrs. Rey Knight. We want to welcome the Farrell Ericksons into our ward. They have been living in Sutherland. I think there are some other people who have moved in our ward area. I don't know their names. Mrs. Susie Saniord Cook from Evanslon, Wyo. spent a few days last week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Turner of Delta and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sanford of Sutherland. Suth-erland. Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Turner and Mr. Sanford are sisters and brother. broth-er. Ray Turner of Salt Lake spent the Memorial Day weekend visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Turner and other members of the Turner family. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Church and Kathleen were in Cedar City last Thursday where they attended the graduation exercises for their son Sterling who graduated in Elementary Elemen-tary Education. He will be teaching in the Nebo District. Steven, McKay and David Church left for a trip to Mesa, Arizona Monday. They will be gone a few days. Donald Western is home from his teaching job at the Granite School District. Mrs. Net 'de Cheynoweth and Mrs. Ada Cheynoweth of Orem visited in Delta and Deseret last week for a day. Dennis and family just recently moved from Salt Lake to Nephl where Dennis has employ ment.. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Torrens spent the Memorial Day weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Torrens, then they went to Provo to spend a few days with relatives returning return-ing to Deseret to spend the weekend week-end before going back home to California on Wednesday. Mr. and Mra Garold Moody went to St. George to visit relatives and attend graduation ceremonies at Cedar City for Elaine's brother, Larry, We want to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Knight on the arrival of their baby son, born at the Utah Valley Hospital last week. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Newel Ne-wel Knight of Deseret and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lamkin of California. At fast meeting Sunday, Kathy Dutson, daughter of Karl and Va-lynn Va-lynn Dutson, was confirmed a mem ber of the church. Ren Taylor blessed bles-sed his great-granddaughter and gave her name of Kay Lynn. Larry Randall blessed his little daughter and gave her the name of Elizabeth Roxanne. Here for the special occasion were Dr. and Mrs. M. A. Lyman of Delta, Mr. George W. Bronson and son Simon and a friend Lynn Hemingway of Salt Lake City and Kay and Dianne Bas sett of Delta. Mrs. Clara Stewart went to Cedar City Thursday to see her eldest daughter DSLia Anther receive her bachelor's decree. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Bennett were in town Thursday and Friday and also traveled to Cedar City to the graduation exercises for their son Phil R. Bennett. Mrs. Fern Hepworth accompanied Roma and Don Zeller of Tooele -o Cedar C.ty to see her daughter Beth receive her degree. They stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hepworth Thursday night and returned home Friday. Beth returned to Tooele with the Zellers where she will teach summer kindergarten. Rook Club was held at Nina Me- chams. Arvilla Swensen won high; Roma Ekins, second; Faun Dillen-beck, Dillen-beck, low; Elaine Hardy, guest, and grand slam went to Belva Morris and Alta Warnick. The Explorers are back from hik ing rim to rim to rim of the Grand Canyon. Those making the trip were Timmy Crafts, Eldon Ekins, David Corey, Kenny Talbot, Barry Bishop, Allen Galli, Waldo Wamick Jr. and Sheldon Western. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor have returned to Mexico after their visit with Mrs. Reva Taylor and other relatives in the area. 1 4-H NEWS The Bobbins held their club at the home of their leader, Mrs. Gal 1L Our jr. leader, Judith 'Galli led us in the pledge. We are sorry to report that Millie Mil-lie Dewsnup and Louise Cropper are not so well at the present time. Eva Alice Robison returned to Salt Lake on Sunday after spending spend-ing a ten-day vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wells Robison. Robi-son. Her sister, RoElla Talbot accompanied ac-companied her. RoElla was to see her doctor Monday. Mrs. Norma Randall and son Tom brot Mrs. Geo Eliason and infant son home from Salt Lake on Sunday.
