F MISS JOYCE WINTERTON Engagement Is Announced . Mr. and Mrs. Neil F. Winterton of Mesa, Arizona, are announcing the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Joyce, to Mr. Sherril W. Tolbert of Abraham, Abra-ham, Utah. Sherril is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tolbert of Abraham. Ab-raham. A March 22nd wedding in the L. D.S. Temple at Mesa, is planned. Miss Winterton has attended school at Arizona State College, Brigham Young University, and Arizona Ar-izona State University, where she is now a Junior in the School of Education as a dance major. Miss Winterton is a member of Lambda Delta Sigma and a member mem-ber of Orchesis. She has also been Oak City News MAE H. We had a very nice meeting Sunday Sun-day night. The speakers were High Councilman Ray Western and Roy Twitchell. They gave us very interesting in-teresting and timely talks. Miss Bertha Jacobson is visiting her father for a week or so. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Anderson visited their son Meldon and family fam-ily over the weekend in McGill, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Don Drollinger and son Michael of Salt Lake visited Sunday and Monday with parents, Mr. and Mrs. ;Ivan Shipley. Mr. George Anderson and daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Beth Nielson visited a few days in Salt Lake last week. Mr. Clarence East is in the LDS Hospital where he had surgery last week. Fred and Arlene Nielson went to Salt Lake where they visited vis-ited Clarence. We hope he will soon be able to be home again. Mr. Fred Lundahl went to Hooper Hoop-er last Wednesday where he attended at-tended the funeral of a brother-in-law, Cecil Frew, husband of his sister Gladys. Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Talbot visited in Oak City over the weekend. They were returning to their home in Ogden after spending the winter win-ter in California. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Dutson were weekend visitors with parents. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Christensen had their son Richard and family visit from Salt Lake to help celebrate cele-brate Willard's birthday. Margene and Helen Anderson were in Salt Lake Sunday and Monday where Margene attended a beauty school. She was elected Campus Sweetheart, Sweet-heart, Rodeo Queen, and attendant to the Snow Queen. At present she is frst attendant to the Phoenix Jaycees Rodeo Queen. Sherril is a graduate of the Animal Ani-mal Husbandry Department at B. Y.U. He was a member of the Rodeo Ro-deo Club and Team. At present he is employed in Phoenix at the Smith and Kelly Feed Lots. He is also attending night classes at Arizona Ar-izona State University, where he is working toward a Master's Degree. The young couple will make a home in Mesa for the remainder of the school year. SHIPLEY son Paul spent the weekend in Salt Lake with their daughters, Avis and Janette and families. Last Thursday Mrs. Chloe All-dredge All-dredge was happily surprised by a visit from her four sisters and a sister-in-law. They are Mrs. Edith Woods, Melva Thorpe, Helen Gardner, Gard-ner, Iva Osguthorpe and Irma Rus-sel. Rus-sel. They came especially to celebrate cele-brate Chloe's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Dutson spent Thursday in Provo visiting and attending at-tending to some business there. Harold and Helen Anderson took their sister Irene Talbot to her home in St. George. Irene stayed with her mother, Mae H. Shipley a week. Harold and Helen spent Thursday and Friday there and did some temple work. Mr. William Jacobson had his daughter, Eula and husband visit him from Brigham City. His daughter daugh-ter Aletha also visited him. Mrs. Melva Day spent a few days visiting her mother, Mary Finlin-son. Finlin-son. This Saturday night, March 16th, a farewell party and dance will honor Elder Kent Finlinson. All are invited to be there. RICHARD EVAN BLACK Marriage Announced . . . Miss Glenda Joyce Memmott and Richard Evan Black were united in bonds of holy matrimony on Friday, March 1, 1963. The ceremony took place at the Logan L.D.S. Temple and was performed by Pres. Raymond, Ray-mond, temple president. Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Memmott, 411 Penny Avenue, Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs: Evan G. Black, 3724 5th East Salt Lake City, Utah. A reception honoring the newlyweds new-lyweds was held in the Millcreek, Twelfth ward, Salt Lake City, that evening. The bride was lovely in a floor length gown of Chantilly lace with I a tiered skirt, scalloped neckline, and fitted sleeves, with tapered points at wrists. Her fingertip veil of sheerest illusion, fell from a crown of pearls and sequins. She carried an orchid surrounded with white carnations. Her attendants, Mrs. Robert Webster, Web-ster, matron of honor, Mrs. Kent R. Dodge, and Mrs. Charles Henderson, Hender-son, bridesmaids were gowned in brocaded mint green sheaths. They carried bouquets of pink roses surrounded sur-rounded by white carnations. The mother of the bride was dressed in pale green, and the groom's mother moth-er wore a beige dress They wore corsages of pink roses Peter D. Junior Ushers Deseret Garden Club Report On Friday, March 8, the Deseret Garden Club held their monthly meeting at the home of Millie Dew snup. As each member arrived, she was presented with a shamrock to wear. The evening was spent visiting and embroidering quilt "blocks. The quilt will be given to some lucky member at the club's annual Christmas Party. Beautiful floral arrangements in vases were presented to last year's officers who" were: Fern Crafts, president; Telia Fisher, vice-president; Fay Davis, secretary-treasurer; and Edna Christensen, reporter. Fourteen-year-old Jack Anderson was accidentally injured while playing basketball in Delta Jr. High Monday of last week. He was treated treat-ed in Delta and taken to St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake where a pin was placed in his hip, which had been broken and pulled from the socket. He is reported to be doing fine and will come home this week. Mrs. Orvil Jeffery was stake visitor vis-itor at Relief Society Tuesay. She attended both meetings. The lesson for teachers was given by Mrs. Al-ford Al-ford Stanworth and the regular meeting lesson given by LaVeda Bishop. We all enjoyed Mrs. Jef-fery's Jef-fery's remarks. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sledge vis ited with Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Howell over the weekend. Mr. Max Stanworth is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine Stanworth. Max is still not permitted to work but says he feels fine. He has been living in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Skeem went to Provo and drove home a new car last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Val Styler left by , train Thursday for California to spend a few weeks with their daughter, dau-ghter, Nella. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Skeem have a new grand-daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Webb of Granger are the proud parents. This makes two girls and two boys for them. Mr. and Mrs. Don Day have another an-other grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rus-sell of Salt Lake are the parents. The baby boy has an older sister. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Day of Nephl visited the Days Sunday. Erma Skeem will celebrate her birthday Thursday (today), March. 14. Jack Anderson will celebrate his on the 15th. Mr. Dwaine Stanworth is very proud of his race horse that cam in second at Phoenix, Ariz., last week to bring him a nice prize. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Christensen have been on a nice vacation down through Death Valley and through Glen Canyon. They were among the Utahns to see the recent Fullmer Full-mer fight. While in Las Vegas they stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Tass Claridge and also their neice and family, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Taylor. Mrs. June Roundy visited with friends in Oasis. She spent the af ternoon with Ella Christensen and the night with Mr. and Mrs. Howard How-ard Roundy. Mr. Gary Webb and the three children were home Saturday. Steve and Larry Stevens of Salt Lake spent the weekend with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Norvel Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Willoughby were home Sunday. Engagement Made Known Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mitchell are making known the engagement of their daughter, Miss Lawana Mitchell Mitch-ell to Kenneth Collier. Mr. Collier is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Collier of Kaufman, Texas. Wedding Wed-ding plans include a late June date. Mr. and Mis. George Sparks from Nampa, Idaho, visited last week in Delta with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gardner and family fa-mily and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Gardner Gard-ner and family.
