SCHOOL BOARD HOLDS JOINT MEETING The Board of Education held its l-pcmlar monthly meeting on Wed nesday, December 5, 1962 with all members of the board, the superintendent superin-tendent and the clerk present. In addition, the two newly elected members to the Board of Education-Mr. Education-Mr. Jack Nelson o Lynndyl and Dr. Dean C. Evans of Fillmore, attended at-tended the full session of the board. SCHOOL LEGISLATION MEETING AT FILLMORE ON DECEMBER 10 The Millard County School Board acted as the h o s t at a Joint meeting meet-ing of legislators, P.T.A. representatives repre-sentatives and board members from both Millard and Beaver Counties on Monday, Dec. 10, at 8:00 p.m. at the Cafe Ilene. Present Pre-sent also for the meeting was a team from the CAPS organization (Cooperating Agencies for Public Schools), who outlined the various var-ious legislative goals for education in the coming session of the State Legislature. President Kenneth Nielson was chairman of the meeting. VOC. AGRICULTURE REPORT , Mr. Robert A. Nielson, teacher of vocational agriculture at the Millard Mil-lard High School, met with the Board of Education and outlined his program of Instruction for the current year. It was noted by Mr. Nielson that during the last year, the supervised farming program for the students In his department had projects with total receipts of $126,000, showing a net profit to the boys of over $40,000. Mr. Nielson Niel-son explained that during the past year 103 boys were enrolled in vocational vo-cational agriculture at the Millard High School. His chapter achieved the remarkable distinction of having hav-ing one American Farmer, seven State Farmers, 49 Chapter Farmers Farm-ers and 46 Greenhands, and for the fifth consecutive year, the Millard Eagle Chapter, along with the Bear River Chapter, was selected as the only two chapters In the state receiving re-ceiving national Gold Emblem Rating. Rat-ing. Only 76 chapters in the nation out of a total of 9,000 were awarded award-ed the Gold Emblem Rating. MENTAL HEALTH CLINICS The superintendent advised the Board of Education that he had been notified by the County Commissioners Com-missioners that they had approved participation in the mental health program beginning In January of 1963. The Board, of Education had previously approved the clinics on a joint participation basis with the Millard County Commissioners. DISTRICT BUILDING PROGRAM The problems associated with bonding and building in the dist-rice dist-rice were discussed in detail. The Board of Education authorized the employment of a building engineer to study and make recommendations recommenda-tions concerning the structural condition con-dition of the Delta High School. SHOPPERS WISE ECONOMIZE THEY SHOP WITH THOSE WHO ADVERTISE Church Basketball Due to the Delta High School basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 15, the Jr. M-Men games will be postponed until January 7 and 9. Many of the top players belong to the Jr. Varsity and they would be unable to play two games on that day. Play will continue the following Saturday as scheduled. We have had .some fine ball games the past two Saturdays and we Invite the public to these games starting at 11 o'clock. The top five players in' scoring are: Kent Kimber, 57 points; Robert Callister, 34; Stanley Hales, 33; Roger Ogden, 30; and Lynn Finlin-son, Finlin-son, 30. Criddle has proclaimed the closing of wells diverting of water from underground under-ground sources beginning with December De-cember 1, 1962, and ending April 1, 1963, as provided by law. All persons owning, or having control of, any artesian or pump well, or wells, in this State are required to close, by plug, cap, valve, or other mechanical device or by repairs, all wells except those providing water for beneficial use. Beneficial use during the above period does not Include irrigation. It Is also provided provid-ed that modification of said ORDER may be granted upon showing to the State Engineer that a compliance compli-ance therewith will cause partial or complete failure of the well. The closing season of underground under-ground water has been proclaimed in the interest of conserving the underground-water supply and to provide a maximum quantity for the next year's use. As a result of last year's CLOSING ORDER there was made available during the l past season additional, water which materially helped to mature crops. Strict obedience to this CLOSING ORDER will further increase the supply. Disregard of the CLOSING ORD-er ORD-er is ft misdemeanor and, if necessary, neces-sary, the State Engineer will bring action in the district court to enforce en-force the law.
