Show Millard County Chronicle - Thursday, December 13, 1962 Hind: dev CLARA STEWART The Relief Society bazaar Friday evening was a real success. Hot ham dinner was served to 180 people. peo-ple. Long tables beautifully decorated decor-ated were placed the full length of the gym. Practically all the hand made articles were sold. Seventy-five Seventy-five ladies worked on the quilts pillow cases, aprons, rugs, novelties and baked foods and candy. It is a huge job and when it is so successful, suc-cessful, it is very rewarding. On Dec. 18th at 2 p.m. after the literary lesson, given by Mrs. Dorothy Doro-thy Damron, there will be a short Christmas program, refreshments and every lady will receive a gift. So come out and get yours. Santa Claus will visit every home Christmas Eve. This is sponsored by Hinckley Lions. The chapel will be decorated for all activities of the holidays. Dec. 23 at 7:30 the ward choir under the direction of Cluff Talbot with Roma Ekins accompanying will present their annual Christmas Cantata. : The Hinckley, Oasis, and Deseret High Priests were hosts for a party held Monday night In the gym. Mrs. Hattie Humphries Is feeling a little better. She didn't go with her daughter Verda to Springville. She wanted to stay home. She fell and broke two ribs. t Mrs. Verna Webb is not feeling too well. She got dizzy while preparing pre-paring breakfast and fell on the stove and cut her lip and has been real miserable the last few days, r- Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Spencer went to Salt Lake where Doug entered en-tered the hospital Thursday afternoon.- His arm that was torn from jrnonlh ago has not even started to knit so it had to be fused. He was in a lot of pain. We wish him a speedy recovery. ' t Congratulations to Floyd and Helen Spendlove on their going to the Manti Temple Saturday for their first time. They live in Bountiful Boun-tiful and came down Jiere. to go ao Blaine and Harriet 'Spendlove and Rodney and Wynnie Wright could go with them. The Joel Naylor family had a busy weekend. Their one son Dean who recently returned from his mission mis-sion in Australia got married Friday, Fri-day, then Sunday night there was a farewell testimonial for their other son Steve who is leaving for the Texas mission. This was held in the Bountiful 12th Ward where they lived before coming to Hinckley. Hinck-ley. t High Councilman Lathel Callister visited our ward all day Sunday and had the evening services In charge. Ho asked Eldro Jeffery to assist him and he was the first speaker. The choir sang "Star of the East", then Mr. Callister talked. They gave us some verjr Interesting Interest-ing and timely advice; , ' ' Recommends were read for La-Wanna La-Wanna Petersen Carter, wife of Sid Carter and Elcee Crafts, wife of 2ane and we voted to receive them in our ward. 1 Pres. Verdell and wife Dana Bishop Bish-op had as their guests Pres. and Sister Lundgreen from the West Central States Mission where he was branch president. They are released re-leased and live in Monroe now1. This is the miss'on where Ray Bishop Bis-hop is laboring also where Vicki Yaldez lived. She is the young lady who is living with the Bishops here in Hinckley. Pres. Lundgreen spoke of Ray as being their mircle missionary mis-sionary and I think he is. He prepared pre-pared all his life for that mission by learning to play the organ and piano, conduct singing and learned the gospel. He is one in a million. I really miss his beautiful Christmas Christ-mas music he broadcast over town every holiday season and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Mrs. Lila Witbeck and husband, Merril of Hunter axe here to visit their brothers Randle and L. R. Swensen and sisters Vera ' Bishop and Edith Dennison. Stephen and Dorene Talbot took to see brother Lelland, who was ill. Neighbors their two little girls and returned I to their home In Clearfield Friday i Dorene came home for the arrival of her second little baby girl. Mrs; Violet Robinson entertained the Rook Club at her home Wednesday Wed-nesday evning. She served a delicious de-licious luncheon, then the evening was spent playing rook. Members present were Arvilla Swensen, Nina Ni-na Mecham, Beryl Hardy, E r m a Cropper, Ruth Talbot, Dot Damron, Thora Petersen, Angie Pratt, Belva Morris, Harriet Spendlove, Enid Damron, Arvilla Workman, Oleta Swensen, and Roma Ekins. Guests were Clara Stewart and Alice Bliss. Arvilla Swensen won 1st prize; Beryl, 2nd; Thora low and Alice Bliss guest prize. Mrs. Dorothy Robison and het mother Nina Mecham visited in Provo this week. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hardy and Beryl's father and mother from Holden, also a sister from Salt Lake, all went to Ely for a funeral for their cousin Friday. i Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Carter have moved to Ely where Doug has employment. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Meinhardt and baby Robert from Cedar City 6pent the weekend In Hinckley. - Mr. and Mrs. Jeddie Judd are now living in Fillmore. They were at the Lee Judds for the weekend. Margaret Ekins and Ronald Morris Mor-ris and John Wright were the only college students home , this week. J Mr. and Mrs. Meldon Jay Wright of Salt Lake were at the Ivan Wright home Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Dallas Ames and wife Arda and small daughter spent the week with their sister Zina Keller and family. They are from Antonah, U-intah U-intah Basin, Utah. Vaughn and Phyllis Bennett cam9 home from Murray Saturday where they live while Phyllis teaches school and put up their Christmas decorations and trimmed the tree ready for the family when they come home for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Roy P. Hilton attended at-tended the christening of their two great-grandsons in Benjamin. The little boys were given the names of Ronald and Rodger Singleton. Jim and Lucile Sampson and children joined Bob and Bessie Webb's family for their home evening. ev-ening. Sunday night at the Webb home. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Hale of Trout Creek visited their daughter Natalie Bennett and family Saturday. Satur-day. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Christensen of Salt Lake visited with Mr. and Mrs. Don Morris over the weekend. We. wish a speedy recovery for Rebecca Ann Reeve, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Reeve of Salt Lake, son of Art and Mary. Rebecca Rebec-ca was serriously injured in a car accident while on her mission in Texas. Rex got an Army plane and nurse and she was flown home to the hospital in Salt Lake. The Coalesce Club held their Christmas party Thursday evening. Carol. Bishop and Dorothy Spencer were hostesses and it was held at the home of Mrs. Golda Talbot. Dinner was served. Members attending at-tending were Joyce Gronning. Betty Morris, LaWanna Petersen, Anna Lee Hepworth, Berniece Palmer, Ann Cropper, Launita Bishop and Carolyn Stevens. Invited guests were Bessie Webb, Oleta Swensen and Arvilla Swensen. . Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Lee and family fa-mily of Beaver were guests of Mrs. Golda Talbot this last week. At the Gene Bishop home were Bob Brakey of Kaysville and Billy Rogers of Milford to visit their daughters, dau-ghters, Gwen and Rita, t Qver last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Ren Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, their son Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Taylor and son Mark of Fruita, Colo., and their grandson Alan with his girl friend Lorrie Smith of Salt Lake. Alan Is attending the electronic school in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Wright spent Saturday evening in Provo ucjatoille Tlews VENICE DAVIS Mr. and Mrs. Roy Losee and Mr.i and Mrs. Isaac Losee made a trip , to Provo during the week. I Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Oliver and Mr. j and Mrs. Isaac Losee made a tripi to Salt Lake during the week and brot home with them the little daughters,Tna and Stacy, of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Oliver for a visit of the weekend. Then Mr. and Mrs. Ron Oliver came on Sunday and they returned home with them. Bishop and Mrs. Frelen Shurtz and Yvonne Shurtz made a trip toj Provo for some Christmas shopping 1 ABRAHAM Mrs. AFTON FULLMEB and a visit with her mother, Me-linda Me-linda Spencer. Virginia Jensen gave a piano recital re-cital Sunday afternoon for some of her students, Linda, Donna and Annette Losee, Judy Jensen, Linda and Gwen Shurtz, and Nancy Clark. !t was very good and enjoyed by a large crowd. Its inspiring to hear these young girls and we hope they will keep, up the good work. "Congratulations." "Con-gratulations." ' ' We called on Norma Poulson Sunday. She is slowly getting better bet-ter and we hope and pray for her to gain good health again. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Jeffery and family fa-mily of Nephi'and Mr. and Mrs.. The wedding and" Open house for Karen and Dwight Davis was well attended and many lovely gifts were received. A large crowd came i from all over, relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schaffner, Mr. and Mrs.; Don McDonald and Mr. and Mrs.' Wm. Cox came from Salt Lake; Mr. j and Mrs. Rulon Jenson and son ofi Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Jack1 Terry, of Delta; Mr. and Mrs. Fred( Milner, of Spanish Fork. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Terry and Mr. and Mrs. Hal Terry of Salt Lake v. sited over the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Terry and family. Saturday night the Jolly Stitchers held their Christmas card party at the Woodrow Hall, with exchange of gifts. Nine tables were set for supper. Hostesses were Josie Walker, Walk-er, Vivian Holman, Maxine Bishop, and Ann Hales. Sunday night the program was; given by High Councilman L y 1 e j Bunker. Talks were given by David Da-vid Moody and Mr. Bunker. A flute trio was given by Beverly Bunker, Mary Lyman and Kathy Callister, "Temple By the River," accompa-n'ed accompa-n'ed by Leona Bunker. Mrs. David Moody and baby visited our church with them. A fireside chat was held after church at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Losee. A record was played and slides were shown to the group and refreshments were served. College students will ne especially especial-ly interested in west Millard County. Coun-ty. They live in Tooele and work at the Ordinance Depot there. The weather is so nice its hard to remember its nearly Christmas time . again. I heartily enjoy the Christmas Carols I hear every time I go in to Delta. Carmellia Hoelzle is busy making lots of Christmas cookies. She fills 5-gallon cans with them and the most delicious ones you could think of. A lot of our other neighbors are also baking Christmas cakes, etc., to send away or to have on hand for the holiday season. i Telephones are wonderful! Bob Taylor called his mother, Margaret Taylor, Sunday from Reno and Dorothy Tolbert Shields called herj folks, the Sherman Tolberts from Philadelphia, Pa., on Sunday. Phone calls are next thing to a personal visit. The Alva Youngs and also Eugene Eu-gene Young are through laying pipe line at their mountain ranch and are home again. Hal Young is in Salt Lake attending at-tending to his guard duty. He has to go every once in a while. Boyd and Beatrice Schena drove to Provo to look Santa Clauses toys over. Mrs. Norma Poulson is home from the LDS Hospital and feeling a lot better. We hope she continues to improve. Her daughter Dorothy Jeffery of Nephl was with her Sunday, Sun-day, as also was Kathleen and Dave Poulson. Clark and Reva Bliss were guests or jack and June Reid for Sunday dinner.
