Show Millard County Chronicle Oak MAE H. Late Friday afternoon scoutmen Dean Anderson and Marion Anderson Ander-son took the scouts for a "survival trip" to Fool Creek Peak. They reached the peak before dark after a nice rain. They camped on top of the peak and ate breakfast before be-fore returning to the canyon road. The boys carried their bedrolls and food to the peak. They returned Saturday forenoon to their homes, all were tired but enjoyed the trip. The following scouts took the trip, Moyle, Byrant, Paul and Glade Anderson, Lynn Finlinson, Lambert Dutson, Dale and Clyde Pratt, Lans Nielson, Karl Finlinson, Michael Nielson, enjoyed and survived the trip. There was a Christensen reunion at Provo Park last Saturday. Those attending from Oak City were Mrs. Genevieve Christensen, Blaine and RaNae Christensen, Grover Christensen, Chris-tensen, Mrs. Esther Christensen, and Mr. and Mrs. Myron Christensen Christen-sen and children. They reported a successful pleasant time. Last weekend Mayvonne and Dixie Dutson visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dutson. Miss Wilma Wixom returned to Salt Lake with them after spending a month vacation in Oak City. The Glen Christensen family came Friday night to attend the Anderson reunion in Oak City Saturday. Sat-urday. Stanley and Ivan, have been visiting with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shipley for two weeks. They returned home Sunday with their parents at Provo. Edith and Gwen, remained for a longer visit in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Merton Lovell and son of Provo also Mr. and Mrs. El-wood El-wood Lovell and children of Mon-ticello Mon-ticello visited in Oak City. A large crowd attended the fast day Sacrament meeting Sunday. The little daughter of Austin and Meredith Lovell was blessed and named Cindy by her father. Dean and Anita Anderson's baby boy was blessed and named Bruce Mason by his father. An Anderson reunion was held Saturday at the Oak City hall and park. Many out of town people attended. A program was held in the forenoon followed by dinner, sports and a ball game. Mrs. Margene Anderson had her girl friend, Jean Bracken, of St. John visiting over the weekend. Tim Crafts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crafts, is visiting in Oak City with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Carwin Nielson and family visited Nora's father, Lafe Olson, a few days last week from Sunset. Malin and Angeline Mecham of Tropic spent a day last week visiting vis-iting relatives in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Jacobson had their daughter, Clora and children of California visiting a few days. Miss Winona Alldredge has been in Salt Lake the past week with her sister, Darla and family. Mrs. Genevieve LaFevre and children of Tropic are spending this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elden Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Don Drollinger and Mike are spending a few days in Oak City. Mrs. Bernieee Jones of Rigby, Idaho visited last week with her sister and husband, Mr. 'and Mrs. LeRoy Walker. The lovely decorated patio at the home of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Walker was the setting for a party given in honor of Elaine Trimble, of Fillmore, who is here visiting her grandmother and grandfather Walker. Nine happy girls all had a jolly time. Thanks to Stella Shurtz for writing writ-ing the items last week for me. I had a lovely trip and visited Estes Park, Boulder, Loveland and many beautiful places. Colorado is a beautiful state and water running everywhere. Verna Owens and family of Pan-guitch, Pan-guitch, visited her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Boothe Sunday. The Losee reunion was held in Lehi this year. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Losee, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Losee, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Losee and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Losee and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Oliver and Larry. Norma and Clara Poulson made a trip to Tooele to get Ronald and Joe Poulson. They have been visiting visit-ing in Tooele a week and returned home with them. Bishop and Mrs. Frelen Shurtz had visiting them Monday from Provo, her mother, Mrs. Malinda Spencer, a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Kline Spencer and Mr. and Mrs. Bill King, they spent the day. Victoria Jenson is home from the hospital and on the improve. Sunday Sun-day they had all her children home for the day. Grant B a r b e n and Kathy, of Bountiful, Lillian Sehauff-ner Sehauff-ner and two girls Janet and Sharon, Shar-on, of Kearns, Verla Jenson and family and Carol Barben, Shirley, LeAeur and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Jenson and family of Spanish Fork also visited Stindav. They all attended Sunday School. LaRay Greene, Carol Wood and a friend, of Salt Lake City visited over the weekend and returned Sunday. We are happy to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Shurtz and family to our community. They are living in the DelRay Nielson home. Eldon has employment with Done Equipment Equip-ment Co. Welcome Home. The Memmott reunion was Saturday Sat-urday in Salt Lake. Those attending attend-ing were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Memmott, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Losee and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alden Shurtz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Berdell Memmott and family, of Oasis. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hall, of Twin Falls, Idaho, are proud parents of a 7'.2 lbs. baby boy, born July 31. Mrs. Lois Greene is there helping to care for the new baby and his sister, Debra. All are doing fine. The fine facilities of the track with 440 yard straightaway and Parimutuel windows have been chosen for the 3rd time in 4 years of running for this annual Derby because the fine horses and large crowds always in attendance add to the interest and color of this important race. Mr. and Mrs. John Tilman, of Cheyenne, Wyo., have beep, visiting with Mrs. Tilman's brother and family, fa-mily, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Gordon. This is the first time Mrs. Tilman and Mr. Gordon have seen each other for 35 years. Sunday they went to Salt Lake to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gordon and children. Mr. Carl G. Theobald spent several sev-eral days of last week on business in the Milford and Beaver areas. with her mother, Mable Davis. Sandra Terry came home with her parents for a visit from Sunday Sun-day to Tuesday. They returned her to her work. She is a nurse's aid in the hospital in Brigham City and will take a nurses' course. Lynn Losee is working in Salt Lake and came for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Losee and family over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Snow and son. Harold, attended the James C. Mrs. Mary Jane Peterson is at the Alva Young home quite ill at present. We sure hope and pray she will soon be better. Rusty and Merril Sheriff of Centerville returned home after a week with us and took their cousin Rodney Fullmer with them for a week. They were all thrilled at going alone on the train. Kids don't get to ride trains very much anymore. any-more. August is a beautiful month. The late summer flowers are blooming and it must be said they are probably prob-ably more colorful than the spring blooms. I never go to Delta that I don't walk down by Mr. Ashby's Hotel and laundermat just to see the beautiful, beautiful petunias and also the geraniums in the window. win-dow. I should have been a florist, I love flowers so well. Sherman and Gladys Tolbert drove to Spanish Fork to see the Sutherland team play ball Thursday. Thurs-day. Keith, Fred and Verl Tolbert played on the team. Sutherland won one. Lloyd and Hildred Tolbert Tol-bert also went. Miss Dorothy Tolbert is here from her job in Salt Lake over Sunday with them. The Stake Explorer Scouts are taking a trail ride Monday out Swazy way. They will visit Sawmill Saw-mill Basin and the old Robber's Roost, where the outlaws hid out 75 years ago, after robbing a train in Wendover. It will be an exciting excit-ing day for the kids. Erma and Clifford Peterson have had their children home this week. Harold and Rae and family, of Wells, Nev., the Bennetts (Colona), of Kearns, who by the way, are moving back to Holden. Gladys and Sherman Tolbert Tol-bert took them out to the Hot Springs Saturday-and to see old land marks on the desert. These Abraham folks grew up chasing wild horses on this old desert des-ert and love to go out there still, but the horses are practically gone. We have a full grown kitty fox, caught while it was a baby. It's hard to keep it anywhere, it digs out of its pen and won't eat anything any-thing but raw meat. I don't know what will become of it. But it is sure a cute little thing. We have had some showers a-round a-round today, it came in streaks. We never had a drop but up by Bliss's there was a deluge. August is the month for flash floods and hail Ktnrmc cri hnrrv nn crot crops up! And by the way, there seems to be some very good crops around the country. Garland and Phyllis Johnson were Reva and Clark Bliss' guests Saturday evening at a patio party. I'm glad Gene Fullmer kept his boxing title even if he diid injure his hand. They must be pretty tough to keep on fighting after an injury like that. Mrs. Wanda Palmer and daughter, daugh-ter, Charlotte of Logan and Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Billings of Spring-ville Spring-ville visited parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Billings over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Basil Talbot spent Friday afternoon with Fontell Skeem. Mrs. Betsy Skeem received word of the death of Mrs. Erma Anderson, Ander-son, She was the daughter of the late Abbie Anderson. Mrs. Ethel Stanworth is spending a week in Ogden with her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Max Stanworth of Salt Lake spent last week with Mrs. George Stanworth. Jennie Humphries visited Oasis Sunday School. She is staying with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rowley in Deseret. Judy Skeem and Jacqueline Gil-len Gil-len were confirmed members of the LDS Church Sunday. Johnnie McCormick of Delta spent Saturday and Sunday with his cousin, Lee Skeem. Evan Skeem fell Friday night and hurt his knee while in Oak City Canyon. FOR SALE . . .
