It Happened In J Washington By Mrs. Wallace F. Bennett Utahns can be very proud of David Brown, 18 year old Salt Lake City pianist. In addition to winning $2,000 in the Merriweather-Post competition conducted by Washington's Washing-ton's National Symphony Orchestra last spring, he won the chance to appear with the N a t io n a 1 Symphony Sym-phony at a series of Youth Concerts. Con-certs. He was in Washington last week to fulfill that assignment. He performed per-formed magnificently with the orchestra or-chestra on four different occasions, to enthusiastic, wildly cheering audiences. After five curtain calls the day of the last concert, Howard Mitchell, Mitch-ell, the conductor of the orchestra, told David's young fans that "the show must go on," so David would be limited to only one more bow, although the youngsters would have been happy to have him start all over again. Dr. Mitchell told the youthful listeners to remenYber the young Utahn because they would undoubtedly un-doubtedly be hearing from him in the future. David appeared on the scene, unpretentiously, un-pretentiously, without manager, without any demands whatever, and just sat down and played, immediately im-mediately endearing himself to all concerned. Yes, the name of David Brown is something to be reckoned with, not only on the future musical scene of Utah but throughout the nation 1 Lyric Lore Club Club Entertained i Mrs. Goldie Miller and Mrs. Zer-ma Zer-ma Tripp entertained members of the Lyric Lore Club Feb. 16 at the Miller home. Older people need about the same basic foods as younger adults, but their body changes do call for some adjustments in diet. As we get older and decrease our physical activity we naturally need fewer calories. When we are older we will need about 500 fewer calories a day than when we were young adults. However, we still need a-bout a-bout the same amount of proteins vitamins and minerals for ample body protection. Actually, nutritionally speaking, each stage of our life cycle is de pendent on every other stage. This is largely due to eating habits and tastes we develop from early child & 4 ' j 3 a- ....
