Show Millard County Chronicle Hinckley CLARA STEWART I really admire these young people peo-ple who go on and have their families fami-lies regardless of all the trouble in the world. Sunday there were four proud fathers who held their little ones up and told us what they were going to name them. Wesley Peterson Peter-son named his first little girl Janiel. They have four boys. Clyde Stevens named their little daughter Lisa. Fred Skeem blessed and named his little son David James and Neal Swensen named his Douglas. This makes their fourth little boy, no girls yet. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Western and family from Provo visited their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Western over the weekend. Their son, Lee also was here. He is leaving for a mission the forepart of April. Sharon and Bob Meinhardt came from Cedar City Friday to visit parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hardy. Ken and Nina Mecham are sporting sport-ing a pretty new car. Mr. and Mrs. George Ekins went to Payson Saturday to visit their son, Gene. He came home from school at Cedar City a week ago with a real bad cough and was operated op-erated on for appendicitus Saturday Satur-day and in the hospital at Payson he developed pneumonia and has been real ill. Sunday afternoon we all visited Mr. and Mrs. Myron Christensen at Oak City and enjoyed a home evening even-ing with the children Sunday night Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Skeem of Salt Lake were home over the weekend. ElDean Greener was the only college girl home this week. Friday night Cordell (Chuck) Edwards Ed-wards came from Salt Lake with some ringside seats for the fight in Las Vegas. He wanted Lowell and Jim Petersen to go down with him Saturday. Lowell had to go to Salt Lake to bless May's baby, so Jim went with him. Oh weren't you all proud of Gene Fullmer. I am glad he is LDS and such a clean sport. I guess that was his best fight. I don't imagine Sugar Ray will bother him anymore. Willard and Bessie Hardy drove to St. George Tuesday for Willard's Aunt's funeral Wednesday. She was Kate B ur g e s s Milne, Willard's mother's sister. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hardy and baby in Cedar City. Mrs. Carma Swensen received word of the death of her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Elinor S. Jensen, 94 .-'.?.. 'X' ; X - "Vj t Aih ' wv . E 1 nitrogen Fertilizers i year-old lady of Salt Lake. The funeral was Monday. Congratulations to Arlo and Jerri Taylor. A fine 8 lb. boy arrived this morning (Mon. 5:00). Jerri's mother is here from California. This is their first and only grandchild and she says, "a new star was 'bom in the north this morning." They hope it won't upset the Big Dipper. Word also came from Dean and Cherol Hilton that they had a baby boy (8 lbs.) born in the Las Vegas Hospital at 4:00 this morning. Mrs. Louise Sly and son, Byron of Ruth, Nevada were guests of Mrs. Gladys Carter from Friday thru Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stevens drove to Pleasant Grove Saturday to take their mother, Elva Stevens home. She has been here a week. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Talbot entertained enter-tained at dinner Saturday night the following people: Mavis and Howard Hardy, Ray and Beth Brown, N. S. and Dorothy Bassett. They watched the fight and then played cards. This is a beautiful storm we are having. The Chapel was so full of our people yesterday at church I guess the good Lord thought he better bless us, so he sent the storm. Mrs. Beth Brown entertained her club Friday night. Luncheon was served and they played bridge. Guests present were Sally Abbott, Elaine Knight, Joan Bird, Dorothy Killpack, Charlotte Morrison, Dorothy Doro-thy Damron, Jessie Gillette and Barbara Ashby. Jessie won 1st prize, Barbara won 2nd and Joan, low. Wednesday evening the Rook Club met at the home of Mrs. Oleta Swensen. Dinner was served then they played rook. Members present were Beryl Hardy, Thora Petersen, Angie Pratt, Harriet Spendlove, Ar- villa Workman, Enid Damron, Roma Ekins and Nina Mecham. Guests present were Elaine Hardy, Gladys Carter and Carol Bishop. Thora won high score prize, Harriet second, Enid low, Nina grand slam and Elaine guest. The Coalesce Club members and partners entertained at a party Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Spencer. Delma Jean Galli and Dot Spencer were hostesses. They watched the Gene Fullmer fight then played cards. A delicious dinner was served. People at the party were Mr. and Mrs. Duane Galli, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Gean Bishop, Mr. and Mrs.' Eugene Morris, Mj and Mrs. Clyde Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Palmer and Mr. and Mrs. Neal Swensen. I Robert and Bessie Webb and daughter, Geniel went to Kearns Tuesday to attend the funeral services ser-vices for Gwen Ann Searle. On the way home they enjoyed a visit with their daughter, Katherine in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Manwell and children from Prove were in town last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Petersen went into Salt Lake Saturday to see their little grandson blessed and named. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Damron. Mrs. Violet Vio-let Robinson rode into Salt Lake with them to visit her children. Mrs. Blaine Theobald from Ely, Nevada is home for a visit. Stomp Saving More in Income Groups I Stamp saving is more prevalent in high income groups than in modest mod-est income groups, according to a nationwide poll conducted last summer by Benson and Benson, Incorporated, In-corporated, an independent research re-search firm. I The studv which was made for The Sperry and Hutchinson Co., the! trading stamp firm, also shows that stamp saving is greater among better educated groups. I I According to S&H economist Eu gene Beem, the survey revealed that while 66 percent of families with incomes under $3,000 a year save stamps, 80 percent of families famil-ies earning $7,000 and more save stamps. The breakdown by education levels follows a similar pattern: 69 percent of those with elementary school educations save stamps com pared to an 82 percent finding for college-educated families.- Dr. Beem reported that most of the survey respondents expressed favorable attitudes toward trading stamps; 82 percent of the women like them, and 66 percent of the men like them. Dr. Beem reported that three out of four of all U. S. families save trading stamps (77 percent). Thirteen ladies from Lynndyl and 11 from Leamington was there. Many lovely gifts were received and cake was served. Sunday the family enjoyed a turkey dinner at Margaret's home in honor of her 68th birthday and grandson, Jay's 23rd birthday. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lovell, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bradfield and son from Logan, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bradfield and Don and Lawrence and Miss Rama Bradfield from Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. George Trovato and children from Salt Lake were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nielson and Mr. and Mrs. Bevan Nielson over the weekend. "Miss Lorna Lovell is home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Welby Lovell. She has been ill with pneumonia. pneu-monia. We hope you soon get well Lorna. Mrs. Clara Johnson received a call Sunday from her daughter, Mrs. Shirley Snyder who was on her way to Page, Ariz, where she and her family will make their new home. Mr. Snyder is working at the Glen Canyon Dam. It seemed so good to look out this morning (Monday) and see the ground buried beneath a blanket of snow. It is the first time this winter we've had enough snow to bother about sweeping the walk. We only hope we can get more storm duuring the month of March. There Is a lot of sickness in our small community, so many have the flu or bad colds perhaps the storm will cleanse the air and lion families save them. Finlinson Fin-linson and Enid Coleman from Bountiful and Mr. and Mrs. Rich Finlinson. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nielson and family are in Aberdeen, Idaho visiting vi-siting Norma's family. A large crowd of ladies from here went to Leamington Wednesday, March the 1st and joined the Leamington Leam-ington ladies for a surprise birthday birth-day party for Mrs. Margaret Bradfield. Brad-field. Refreshments were served and a good time was enjoyed by all. Phil Nielson brought his wife and new baby girl home from the Pay-son Pay-son Hospital, Wednesday, March 1. They named the new baby Pamela. We are happy to hear of the marriage mar-riage of brother Clarence Hogan and Lillian Clark Bishop'of Sandy. They were married March 3rd in the Salt Lake Temple. At present they are in California visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Talbot of Downy, Dow-ny, California spent several days at the home of Roy's parents, Mr. and Mrs- 3ohn Talbot. Roy's son, Charles Ronald left by plane from Salt Lake City Feb. 26, for his des tination in Brazil where he will fulfill ful-fill an LDS mission. Roy and his wife left for California last Tuesday. Tues-day. While here they also visited in Delta with Roy's sister, Mrs. Lester Welton and family. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Overson took Louis' mother, Mrs. May Overson and brother Parley from Leamington Leaming-ton to Nephi Saturday to the doctor for a check-up. Commissioner Howard Nielson spent several days last week in Salt Lake and Fillmore on business pertaining to Millard County. Mrs. Nielson left for Yuma, Ariz, last Saturday to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Trotter. She received word her mother was quite ill. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Eradfield, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bradfield spent Saturday in Nephi. Mrs. Lawrence Bradfield went for medical care. Rayma Bradfield came from Salt Lake by bus to Nephi and was met by her family. They had an enjoyable enjoy-able weekend. Rayma returned to Salt Lake City Sunday evening. ' Mr. and Mrs. Dan Roberts (Shirley (Shir-ley Sheriff) from Callao spent the weekend in Lynndyl visiting friends and relatives. We are always happy to have Dan and Shirley back with us. Mrs. Kathy Jones has been in Payson with her grandmother Elliot El-liot while her grandfather was 'in the hospital. Mr. Elliot is home from the hospital now is feeling fine. It is always inspiring in-spiring to see these children become be-come members of our church. Also in church testimonies were given by several members and the Bishopric Bish-opric and as we listen to these wonderful testimonies it helps to strengthen our own. We certainly had a large group of out of town visitors to Sunday School. We always enjoy seeing our friends and relatives come back home. Mr. and Mrs. William Overson had most of their family home over the weekend. Mr. and . Mrs. Myron Frazier (Ellen) and Leland and Wayne from Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Don Margritier (Hazel) from California. Also a friend of Lealand's, Elder George Bletz of Salt Lake City, formerly of Alaska. We are also happy to see Mrs. Overson's sister Effie Johnson and niece, Margene Williams here from California.
