Amelia Sabey of Callao went to Deep Creek (Ibapah) to visit her grieving sister, Mary Lee, who is widowed after her husband's death. A nice funeral honored Framk Lee as he was laid to rest Friday, Nov. 4, after a lingering illness claimed him. He was a World War I veteran. He won a medal of honor for bravery brav-ery in action in France. Eudene Parker is home now with a new, little red-headed boy. Russell Hoffman's mother is coming com-ing from Colorado Springs to stay with the Nielsons in Trout Creek. She will assist with the forthcoming forthcom-ing marriage plans of her son and I Miss Neona Nielson. The wedding date has not Deen set. He will be returning home sometime in December. De-cember. We had our big monthly show last Saturday night, Nov. 12. "God Is My Co-Pilot" was enjoyed by a good crowd at the Callao-Trout Creek branch chapel. Brother Ekins and Brother Bennett Ben-nett of the Deseret Stake High Council, came out and participated in our Sunday worship assemblies. Their visit was apprecated and enjoyed en-joyed by all. Mother Sheriff and Velda, Gwen, Sybil, and Nona spent the weekend with Shirley and Dan Roberts. The sheep camps and herds are now moving out here to the winter range. I should like to express my thanks for your support in the recent election. May our unity un-ity of purpose be realized in our progressive Millard School District. DESERET MRS. EDNA CHRISTENSEN ALTA ASHBY Our DUP camp held its November Novem-ber meeting at the home of Ava Bennett, Thursday afternoon, Nov. 17. The lesson and a very interesting interest-ing Thanksgiving story were given by Myrle Bennett. Afterwards those present enjoyed a most delicious Thanksgiving dinner. It was pot luck with no one knowing what the others were bringing. It was a well rounded dinner and couldn't have been nicer if it had been well planned. No two members brought the same thing. Plans were discussed discuss-ed for our Christmas party, to be held at the home of Millie Dew-snup, Dew-snup, Dec. 14. On Friday evening the Deseret Garden Club held a Thanksgiving dinner at the Delta Cafe. Fifteen members were present and enjoyed a very tasty Thanksgiving dinner. A short program was given with remarks re-marks by our president, Nora Cropper, Crop-per, a reading by Lucile Hales and jokes by Gertrude Western. Plans were made for a big Christmas party par-ty on Dec. 16. They had a new car they wanted to show the folks. Bertriee Erickson and mother, Millie Dewsnup, made a trip to Pro-vo Pro-vo and back recently. Mrs. Evah Conk made a trip to Manti, Wednesday. She accompanied accompan-ied Ruth Dewsnup and Prosser Ash-by Ash-by and witnessed their wedding in the Manti Temple. The newly weds went on a wedding trip to Arizona. We certainly hate to lose Ruth. She has been a big help In our ward, a very willing worker, but we do wish her all the happiness in the world In the future years. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Warner spent Wednesday n Fillmore. Cecil's father fath-er hasn't been feeling too well of late, so they took him over to have a checkup. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bennett made a trip to Salt Lake and back Saturday. Sat-urday. Early Sunday morning they left for Las Vegas, Nev. From there they went to LaPuente, Calif., to spend Thanksgiving with Glen Ca-hoon Ca-hoon and family. They will later return to Las Vegas and spend a week visiting with Cloyd Bennett. Bishop Lincoln Eliason, Bert Hales, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Black and Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Black, spent Friday doing temple work in the Manti Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Allred and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Eliason spent Saturday Satur-day in Salt Lake, where they did some shopping and attended the Co-op banquet Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Axel Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Jensen, spent Friday Fri-day in Salt Lake. They also did some shopping and Blanche kept an appointment with her doctor. We want to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dewsnup on having had fifty years of happy married life, Nov. 21. Ope nhouse will honor the couple, Sunday, Nov. 27. Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Theobald were down from Dugway, Saturday, to get Amanda Dewsnup and take her back for a two week visit with her children in Dugway and Salt Lake. . June Dutson returned to Salt Lake Saturday morning after a week's vacation, spent at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oimus Dutson. During the week he accompanied ac-companied his father on a trip to Calif, and back. Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Bennett left Tuesday morning to spend Thanksgiving Thanks-giving with their children in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bennett spent from Thursday until Sunday afternoon visiting their son, La Monte and family in Richfield. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Western visited vis-ited in Fillmore on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Christen-sen Christen-sen and son, Cloy, spent Saturday night and Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Christensen. They came down for the Cropper-Carroll wedding reception. Barbara Conk was down from Kearns for a little while Sunday morning. She reports Ralph not feeling too well. Our ward conference was held on Sunday. It was a very good conference. con-ference. Speakers for the first session ses-sion were called from the audience, audi-ence, and were very interesting; but the second session, held in the evening, ev-ening, was more enjoyable as the audience felt more relaxed. Very good talks were given by John I. Pratt, Verdell Bishop, Jay Nelson and President June Black. Much timely advice and instructions were given. Another interesting feature of the meeting was the awarding of many certificates to the members mem-bers of our genealogical classes. It shows that our ward is really doing do-ing a lot of research work. Our ward choir was exceptionally good that night and should be highly complimented. Ray Moody from Salt Lake, was down for a day or two. We have had several cases of mumps in town lately, but every one seems to be getting along nicely. nice-ly. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks-giving. Let's not forget to count our blessings. Oak City News SUSAN SHIPLEY Thanksgiving week, and all are, looking forward to being near their families and friends. At our meeting Sunday evening, Gayle and Mavis Nielso.n were the speakers. Mavis talked of Thanksgiving Thanks-giving and the many 'blessings we enjoy, and encouraged all to remember re-member what the day means, a-long a-long with Thanksgiving dinner. Gayle's talk was on our blessings and stories on miracles. The choir sang "Bless This House." A large crowd enjoyed this meeting. Mrs. Edna Christensen and son, Joe, went to Salt Lake, Friday, to attend the wedding and reception of her son and bride, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Christensen. They were married mar-ried at the Salt Lake Temple Friday Fri-day evening, Nov. 18. A dance and reception honored them Wednesday,, Wednes-day,, Nov. 23 at the Oak City recreation rec-reation hall. All friends and relatives rela-tives were given invitations. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence East from Provo, Miss Wilna Wixom and Dixie Dutson, from Salt Lake, spent the weekend in Oak City, coming especially es-pecially for the missionary farewell fare-well of Elder William Dutson, Saturday Sat-urday night. Gordon and LaRae Shipley spent Saturday and Sunday in Oak City. Gordon has just returned from his mission. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Anderson spent last Sunday and Monday at McGill, Nevada, with their son, Meldon and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Burnis Finlinson spent several days in Salt Lake. They attended the Farm Bureau convention. Mrs. Afton Dutson went to Salt Lake to entertain with her music at the Farm Bureau convention. At the temple excursion Wednesday, Wednes-day, 26 people enjoyed the day at the temple. A P-TA meeting was held Monday Mon-day night. Senator Thorpe Wad-dingham Wad-dingham was the guest speaker. A ladies' trio, Eldonna Anderson, Meredith Mer-edith Anderson and Joy Christensen, Christen-sen, and a male quartet. Grant Finlinson, Fin-linson, Dean Anderson, Myron Christensen and Fred Nielson, furnished fur-nished a musical number. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served and a large crowd was in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Jacobson visited vis-ited in Ogden with their son, Or-lan Or-lan and family. Orlan's oldest son left for a mission to New Zealand. They also visited with their daughter, daugh-ter, Arvilla and family. Mrs. Margaret Willis, from Sunset, Sun-set, visited a few days in Oak City, especially with Mrs. Ely Nielson. Mrs. Nielson is ill hope she will soon be well. Mr. Don Anderson is in Idaho with his son, Nephi, and family. Mrs. Ellis Anderson went to Salt Lake and brought her husband, Ellis, El-lis, home Saturday. She reports he is feeling good since his surgery. We are all happy to have Ellis at home again. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lovell and son, Keith, and Wilford Sheriff, spent Saturday in Salt Lake. Alden Nielson and children, Dan, Kim and Kathy, were Oak City visitors, vis-itors, Sunday, from Milford. Bishop Melvin Roper and family fam-ily were in Oak City Saturday and Sunday. They attended Elder William Wil-liam Dutson's farewell party. Remember the Oak City Relief Society bazaar Saturday night, Nov. 26. Good time for everyone, so be there. Word was received by John Nielson Niel-son of a new granddaughter, born Nov. 13, at the Cedar City hospital. Parents ore Mr. and Mrs. Alden Nielson of Milford. Congratulations, Alden and Erma. A very nice farewell dance and party was held Saturday night for Elder William Dutson. A large crowd was out to enjoy this occasion. oc-casion. The program was conducted by Bishop Lyman Finlinson. Mrs. Mary E. Anderson visited in Midvale with her sister, Saturday and Sunday; also, Karen Olson spent Saturday and Sunday in Salt Lake with her sister.
