The assembly as-sembly was a review of the past year and its activities; Jean Taylor, Tay-lor, assembly manager, was the narrator. Mrs. Seegmiller gave a humorous reading, "The Rooting Section," besides be-sides several other remarks about the reasons for the ability of several sev-eral of our basketball players. Principal Bennett was called to the stand to boost the school spirit. spi-rit. Mr. Bennett not only keeps the spirit high in assemblies and games 'but also spends time in the dressing dress-ing room talking the boys out of a low spot, i Coach Horlacher then presented to the studentbody the second prize state trophy, won by our wrestling team. Sharleen Webb gave a reading, "What Did Creative Writing Create." Cre-ate." It was written by the creative writing class on the subject of the magazine they published, "Mnemosyne." "Mnemo-syne." A sextet taken from the brass section of the band, consisting of Anthony Adams, Leo Lyman, Jerry Huff, Caryl Bishop, Dean Perkins and Kay Christensen, demonstrated their ability by playing "Old Man River." This group with their brass instruments received a Division 1 rating on this selection in the music mu-sic festival. Next the studentbody sat in on a Student Council meeting which proved to be rather a humorous event. Pep Club President, Julie Chesley gave a short talk. The Student-body Student-body resolved not only to take a championship team to state, but also to take a championship cheering cheer-ing section. The basketball team was called to the stage and Coach Allred presented pre-sented the first place region trophy to the Studentbody. Sports Announcer, Dean Bennett, son of Principal C. L. Bennett, was our guest speaker. He is the sports announcer for the BYU and has traveled with them for nine years. Mr. Dean Bennett made the comment com-ment that a winning team is a team with a will. That is what we have a team with a will a studentbody stu-dentbody with a will. The assembly was followed by a victory social. by Nila Jean Johnson porter, Dawn Nielson.
