Show ihckley By HELEN TAYLOR Club News The Hinckley Rook Club was entertained en-tertained at a Spring Party Wednesday Wed-nesday night at the Hinckley Fire place. Hostesses were Mrs. Dorothy Dor-othy Damron, Mrs. Angie Pratt, Mrs. Belva Morris, Mrs. Ivy Allred and Mrs. Nina Mecham. A chicken dinner was served. Those present were Mrs. Ruth Talbot, Tal-bot, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Workman, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. R. Swensen, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Allred, Mrs. Angie Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mecham, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wilson, and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Damron. Dam-ron. Mrs. Lyla Rae Morris entertained at club Friday night. Those present pre-sent were members Marlene Bliss, Alieth Cluff, Arda Davis, Elaine Hardy, Mavis Hardy, Kelly Talbot, Lonnie Morris. Guests, Anna Lee Hepworth, Bonnie Manis, Deloris Ogden, Joy Hurst. Prizes were won by Alieth first, Lonnie second, Joy, low and Bonnie Meddeling. A light lunch was served and rook played on the front lawn under lights. Woodbury and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hilton were In Spanish Fork Monday to visit Mrs. Woodbury, at Hale's Rest Home. Mrs. pred Miller returned to Hinckley last week from Florida, and Mr. Miller remained in Florida, Flori-da, as he is doing so much better under treatment there. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Davis with Wayne Sheehy made a trip to Jer ome, Idaho to move their daugrv ter, Lois Greene and family to our community. Miss Glenda Memmott and brother, bro-ther, Devon is visiting in Salt Lake with relatives and will likely work there for the summer. Bishop and Mrs. Frelen Shurtz had visiting them Mr. and Mrs. Josh Robison and Mrs. Charlotte Day of Fillmore during the week. Leo Davis' Mother, Laura Baiers and granddaughter, Judith' Ann Snyder of Indianapolis, Indiana, are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Da vis, Mrs. Baiers lived here over for ty years ago, and this is her first visit since she left here. She says there isn't a thing she can recognize. Miss Nola Shields has gone to Logan for summer school, Mr. and Mrs. Rod Shields took her up Sun day after Conference. Those attending conference of MIA from here, Verla Jenson, Mel va Shields, Shirlee Shields, Venice Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Losee. Sunday night the program was brought toy High Councilman, Leslie Bennett. Talks were given by LaVar Owens and Brother Bennett. Gloria (Beth Tullis) from Clearfield are Owens gave a piano selection. Cluff Talbot and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Barton and Steven from Midvale and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Crafts and family. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Spencer made a trip to Salt Lake City Saturday to visit their brother, Don at the Fort Douglas Hospital. He was feel ing well enough to go for a ride with them. Mrs. Carma Swensen and sons ac companied Niel to Salt Lake City over Conference weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Judd left for Aridona and Mexico Monday after noon to visit their son, LeRoy and family. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Evans from Dillen Montana and Miss Verla Wright were guests at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Wright. Mrs. Alice Bliss made a trip to Whittier California. Mrs. Immogene Evans and family fam-ily left for Sacramento, California Saturday. Mrs. Wesley Hardy and children from Pleasant Grove and Mrs. Kay Gardner of Moab are here visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hardy. Joycene Spencer was home from Salt Lake City and the hospital where she works. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Carllng were guests at the home of Louise's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heber Bishop. Mrs. Hilma Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Talbot and Mr. and Mrs. Randle Swensen went to Salt Lake City to see Nephi Stewart in the hospital. He was operated on Saturday Sat-urday morning. Mrs. Stewart will stay there. Mrs. Fred Smith (Florence) and two boys Lyle and Fred and daughter, daugh-ter, Lorle Lynn of Inspiration, Arizona Ari-zona are spending the summer with parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart Ste-wart while Fred is at ths University Univer-sity in Tucson, Arizona. Cleone Talbot was here over the weekend to help his father, Loren Talbot with the hay. Visitors at the Karl Workmans' last Sunday were Karl's niece, Mrs. LaRue Lawrence of Valdez, Alaska. His nephew, Weldon Dalton and sons, Steve and Jim, also, John and Allen Casey of Salt Lake City. Weldon Wel-don is being transferred from San Francisco to a Navy base in the Aleution Islands. Steve, also, serving serv-ing in the Navy, is returning to the San Francisco base. Other out of town visitors at the Workman home during the past week were Mr. and Mrs. David Stevens of Pleasant Grove, George Thatcher of Orem and Mr. and Mrs. Emerald Dalton from Fullerton, California. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Melnhardt made a trip to Salt Lake during the week, A lot of the men have been fishing fish-ing and report a success. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Done made a trip to Salt Lake City during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Rigby and little son Douglas are visiting In i Sutherland with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Anderson, Luana1 and David. The Rigbys are leav-1 ing in a few days for Albuquerque where they have been residing for the past months. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Miller and small daughter are visitors of their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Ogden and family. Miss Ruth Johnson visited in Sutherland on Sunday with the Bernard Jacksons. Misses Norma and Phyllis Mason from New Zealand ar spending a few days in Sutherland with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnson and family. The parents of these girls were here about eight years ago, Norma and Phyllis plan to stay about another month. They have been here since February. Mrs. Kenneth Fowles and her new little daughter spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Vern Fowles. Kenneth is located in Iceland at the present time. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jones and baby were here ver the weekend with their father, Mr. Cal Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Don Frazier and sons are visiting with their folks, the Doyle Steeles. They plan to stay a month. j Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Jones visited in Smithfield with Mrs. Jones folks, Mr .and Mrs. Erickson. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Johnson were visitors of their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Blanch visited vis-ited In Sutherland with their folks, the -Darrel Fowles, Mrs. Blanche is a sister of Mrs. Fowles and the Blanches come from California. Mrs. Ora Price from Cedar City visited with her mother, Mrs. Jennie Jen-nie Thornton and her sister, May. Mrs. Julia Lachemenant and daugh ter, Judy Anne from Salt Lake City visited also with Mrs. Thornton. Julia Is also a daughter of Mrs. Thonton, Bishop and Mrs. Max Johnson made a trip to Salt Lake City last week. It seems there are three people peo-ple in Sutherland who are trying to aquire the biggest black and blue marks; and running a huge competition. They are Delia Johnson, John-son, Bernard Jackson and Heber Rose. Through no fault of theirs, (just little accidental happenings) each of them should be awarded first prize for the best looking bruise. Mr. Gary Robinson made a trip to see his family at the Heber Roses Ros-es on Sunday. Gary is stationed at BYU Summer Camp at Milford, Utah and Is doing field work ir Geology. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hepworth are visiting with their folks in Sutherland and in Hinckley. Miss Gay Ogden and friend left for Logan, where they will attend summer school. Mrs. Elizabeth Twltchell visited with her children,- Mr. and Mrs. Bob Webb and children. Miss Kathy Webb and Miss Jill Ttppetts just returned from Logan, where they attended Girl's Stae. Congratulations to them. They re ported a very enjoyable time, and one well worth while. Millard County Chronicle Thursday, June 18, 1959 The Relief Society sponsored a trip to Provo for a one day attendance attend-ance at Leadership held at the BYU. The trip proved very profitable. profit-able. It has been said, "an empty barrel bar-rel makes the most noise." Guard your speech for it may betray you. It is easy to know people by what they say. A pleasant companion will not lie, swear or tell vulgar stories. The film, "How Near To the Angels," was shown on Sunday after Sacrament meeting as a fireside fire-side chat. High Councilman Rulon Callister was In charge of the Sunday evening even-ing program. The talks were given by Ray Western, Supt. of the Stake Sunday School, and High Councilman Council-man Callister. Two vocal solos were rendered by Eldon Sorenson. The meeting was very interesting. Mr. and Mrs. John Wind came down from Provo for an afternoon, but left again for Provo, where they will remain for a few more days. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foote had visitors of friends whom they had not seen in many years. Grandpa Ogden is still having a struggle to get back his "old pep." We truly hope he mends very quickly.
