Show Honor Mother on 80th Birthday and the good of her fellowmen. Mrs. Lutitia Fullmer Johnson Steedman will be honored at open house to celebrate her 80th birthday birth-day Sunday, -May 27, at tre home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul S. Warren, 576 East 7th South, Springville, Utah. Everyone is cordially invited to call between the hours of two to five o'clock in the afternoon. Mrs. Steedman was born May 30, 1876, at Mapleton, Utah, a daughter daugh-ter of William Price and Maria Jane Curtis Fullmer. She lived a large part of her life in Utah County, and for many years around Delta. She is a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints and has devoted her life to the cause of the Church She was married to Silas Wilson Johnson, and they were the parents of eight children, of whom seven survive. Her sons and daughters are El-mina El-mina Miner, Salem, Utah; Earl S. Johnson, Amon F. Johnson and Alta Barney, Sutherland; Maria Warren, Springville; Loine Robinson, Robin-son, Salt Lake City, and Harold Johnson, Sun Valley, Cal. There are 42 grandchildren and 41 greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Scott Christensen and three children were Delta visitors this past week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Christensen and family. Paul Black, of Las Vegas, Nevada, accompanied his mother to the Temple for the ceremony. Mr.v and Mrs. Nieslon are now making a wedding rip, and will visit ValGene and Bob Black, and their families, in Albuquerque, N. M., and then return to make their home in Green River. POULTRY MANAGER IS NAMED TO NATIONAL COMMITTEE H. M. Blackhurst, general manager man-ager of the Utah Poultry and Farmers Cooperative, has just been appointed as the western representative on the Shell Egg Industry Advisory committee to the Department of Agriculture by Secretary Ezra Taft Benson. In asking Mr. Blackhurst to fill the position, Secretary Benson wrote: "We urge you to accept an appointment to this committee. commit-tee. Your wide experience in the industry and extensive knowledge of production and marketing problems pro-blems will be invaluable. We in the Department feel very fortunate fortun-ate in knowing there are men of your ability who so freely give their time and ability to help us with the many problems associated associ-ated with agriculture." Mr. Blackhurst, who has been associated with the Utah Poultry for more than 30 years and is recognized as one of the best informed in-formed poultry experts in this area, announced today that he will accept the appointment, A meeting of the committee will be held in Washington in the near near future. Miss Valary Deem is some improved im-proved at this time but must still remain in bed. Mr. and Mrs. Haven Barlow of Bountiful, Utah, visited the John Fullmers Sunday. Kathleen Poulsen and Dorothy Fullmer from Cortez and Dove Creek, Colorado drove down to get Mrs. Norma Fuller and children who have been here visting for a week. They returned Sunday. Brother Evan Garnder was the speaker in Sacrament Meeting Sunday night. Boyd Schena and Beatrice and children spent Friday and Saturday Satur-day in Salt Lake last week. Boyd attended the Dairy Association Meeting and Beatrice visited her cousins Neldon Taylor and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoelgle and boys spent Mothec's day in Dra-gerton Dra-gerton with the Bill Bliss'es. We are having nice showers and hope it eases the situation for it has surely been dry. We were grieved to hear of the death of Lee Humphries. The Humphries's family grew up here and since the death of their parents par-ents we seldom hear of them but we feel they are our home town folks and our heartfelt sympathy is with them at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Cutler Henrie, of Sutherland, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Ann, to Mr. Myron Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Taylor, of Abraham. The date of their wedding has not been set. I J. Mr. and Mrs. Afton Fawcett and children Sharon, Nancy and Clark, are spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Talbot. Mrs. Rayola Anderson and little daughter visited Mrs, Alice Ander son last week. She is a nurse friend of Mrs. Edith Finlinson. Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson and children from Oveton, Nev., were Oak City visitors last week end. James returned to Nevada Mary and children remained for a longer visit. Square Dancing Saturday Night There will be square dancing Saturday night at 9 p. m., on the Delta open air floor, and everyone is invited to join in. Newel Day, from Fillmore, will call, along with some local callers. Refreshments will be served. Mayor Rulon Callister, who was taken to the Fillmore LDS hospital last Thursday for emergency medi- cal care, is now much recovered. Blood transfusions aided in his recovery, re-covery, and he expects to return to Delta next week. Mrs. Callister and their children, Judy, Robert and Janet, have been In Fillmore with him during his stay at the hospital.
