Show HAC Gordon Moody Trains for tfavy flog of Gold Naval Aviation Cadet Gordon B. Moody, took off and landed his traiuer six successive times recently re-cently aboard the small aircraft carrier USS Monterey, cruising in the Gulf of Mexico, to complete his aircraft carrier qualifications. Cadet Moody is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin J. Moody, of Delta. He attended the University Univer-sity of Utah, prior to entering the Naval Aviation Cadet Program through the U. S. Naval Air Station Sta-tion Denver, Colo. , t He reported to Pensacola, Fla., "The Annapolis of the Air", in June 1952, and has completed a stringent schedule in military, academic, physical and flight training. trai-ning. This leaee Soon For Mission i'ields Miss Nelda Prestwich and Clarence Clar-ence Prestwich, daughter and son of Mrs. Abbie Prestwich, of Delta, are leaving soon to serve two years in L. D. S. mission fields. The farewell testimonial was held May 31, in Delta Second ward, and they will enter the mission home in Salt Lake City June 17, for training prior to their departure about ten days later. Nelda, who has been teaching in Hinckley elementary school this past year, will fill her mission in western Canada. Clarence, who has attended BAC at Cedar City, and the BYU at Provo for the past quarter, will fill his mission in the east central states. Farewell Sunday For Missionary A farewell testimonial for Miss Beverly Dulson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oakland Dulson, of Delta, Del-ta, will be held Sunday evening at S o'clock in Delta First ward. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. Beverly has been employed in Walker Bank in Salt Lake City since her graduation from Delta high school. After the training period in the mission home in Salt Lake City, Beverly will leave for Uruguay, South America, where she will serve two years in the L. D. We certainly want to thank the American Legion for a nice program pro-gram they held at the Deseret cemetery on Decoration Day, and for the fine talk given by Stanley Dewsnup. Miss Linda Cropper returned home Sunday after a visit of several sev-eral days with friends and relatives rela-tives at Meadow. Mrs. Myrle Bennett visited a few days at Provo with her sister, Mrs. Fontella Vincent. Mrs. Josie Moody, Garold Moody, and Elaine Moody spent Sunday at Pleasant Grove where Mrs. Moody attended a meeting of the Star Route association. Home from school for the summer sum-mer are Richard Dewsnup, Garold Damron", Anna Lou Dewsnup and Donald Western. Deseret was almost a ghost town Saturday, June 6th with so many men, women and children gone fishing. I have heard that over on the Fremont River Saturday Satur-day anywhere you looked you could see someone from Deseret. They all reported real good fishing. fish-ing. While in the Far East she operated oper-ated as a part of fast carrier Task Force 77, and blockading and bom-ardment bom-ardment Task Force 95. In Jan., the Colahan teamed up with the HMS Comus and bom- j arderd a large marshalling yard in Tanchon destroying buildings! and freight cars and succeeded in j cutting Communist supply routes in four places. The afternoon of Jan. 19th while in company with the Comus, the only enemy fire was encountered when shore batteries fired three shells at the ships which landed in the wafer doing no damage. In April and May, the Colahan operated with the battleship USS li Hinvliley S'or Ueeepiion Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wilson, of Hinckley, announce the marriage of their daughter, Irene, to Mr. Max 1.. Christenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Christensen, of Delta. The ceremony was performed June I, in the Salt Lake L. D. S. Temple by Pres. Young, with many frsends attending. The couple left immediately after the ceremony on a honeymoon trip to Nevada and southern California. A wedding dance in their honor will be held June 13, in the Hinckley Hinck-ley high school gymnasium. Their many friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. They will make their home in Hinckley during the summer and return to college in the fall. Thurs., June 11, 1953 Johnson Ileunion Slated Auaust H The Johnson Reunion will be held Saturday, August 8, 1953, at Leamington Park, in Leamington. Registration will be at 10 a.m. that day, and the lunch hour will be from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. At 1:45 p.m. the program will be presented. There will be games and sports for young and old, and all members mem-bers of the Johnson family are urged to attend, and bring lunch for their families. Punch will be served by the committee. Mrs. Emma Talbot, Oak City, is secretary for this year's reunion, and further information may be obtained from her. Lt. and Mrs. Eugene Sanford, from Camp Atterbury, Ind., and Mr and Mrs. Glen Terry, of Rena, Nev., are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Sanford. New Jersey and escorted the big ship in a series of gun strikes along the East coast of Korea. She left the middle of May to return to the United States. Ted Brush, from Palo Alto, Cal., visited in Delta last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Brush, and went on to Provo to meet his daughter, Barbara and take her home for the summer. She is a student at BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Starley, former for-mer Deltans now living in Ogden, were among the wedding guests at the reception Tuesday for Mr', and Mrs. Bill Starley.
