Mrs. Anna Metling left Monday for Los Angeles where she is visiting with her daughter, Virginia, who is employed there. , Dan Hunter, brother of Mrs. Hazel Price, left Wednesday for Chandler, Arizona, following a two weeks' va cation with relatives. He is a mem ber of the aviation force. Three members of the high school faculty, Cecil Ash, Ferrin Gurney, and Joseph Roblson, are working at the canneries at Orem and Pleasant Grove during the beet vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. West report the birth of a daughter born at the hospital in Provo last Saturday. Mother and child are doing well. Luther Gale has purchased the home of Lorin Goates on Third East street. Mr. and Mrs. Wane Chris- tensen, who have been occupying the house have moved into Maude Olov er's home while their new building on First East is under course of construction. Mrs. Forrest Llttleford of West Jordan and Mrs. Lawrence Ashton of American Fork were dinner guests Sunday at the Eugene Gurney Gur-ney home. Mrs. Roger Price spent Saturday in Alpine visiting with her father, Robert Hunter, who was injured while working at the Geneva Works last Friday. Several ribs were broken brok-en when he fell through a scaffold. Mrs. LeRoy Davis and daughter, Mrs. Blaine Swenson of Pleasant Grove, returned home Monday following fol-lowing a three week's visit in Chicago Chi-cago with Mr. and Mrs. George N. Larsen and family. Mrs. Larsen was formerly Nelda Davis of this city. Mrs. Davis reports a wonderful trip. They visited many places of interest in-terest in and around Chicago Including In-cluding the Naval training centers forty miles distant from the city. A quilt was made by these ladles during their visit. Mrs. Dee Clark of Provo visited with her mother, Mrs. Mary Winn, Wednesday evening and Thursday. Mrs. Blaine Pierce of Provo stayed stay-ed at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Wallace Hebertson, while the men went deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Manning spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Anderson In Salt Lake City. George Sims, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sims, reported Wednesday for his examination prior to induction induc-tion into the army. Mrs. Thomas Sims spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Don Sims and family of Provo. Mrs. Rachel Anderson returned home Wednesday from a three week's visit with her son, B. J. Anderson of Idaho Falls. Mrs. Joseph Calton visited Sun day in Tooele with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Setner and son Billy and with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Stevens. Miss Beth Smith arrived home Sunday from a six week's trip spent in the east. She visited for some time in South Carolina with her brother, Victor, who is a pilot instructor in-structor in the U. S. air force. She was guest of her uncle, Major Robert Sharp, at Fort Bennlng, Georgia. Many places of interest were visited and a wonderful trip reported by Miss Smith. Mrs. James E. She came to Salt Lake with her daughter, Sybil, .who was married last Thursday in the Salt Lake Temple to Lieu. Deon Dryson, formerly form-erly of Payson, who Is In the U. S. Air service. A reception was given by the groom's parents at Payson the same evening which was attended attend-ed by Lehl relatives of the bride. They will live at Merced, Calif., where Lieu, Dryson is at present stationed. Miss Zatella Price attended an initiation of the White Key B. Y. U. social unit last Thursday. The party was held at the M. I. A. girl's summer home In Provo canyon. The White Key sponsors activities of the school. Miss Price was made a member of the chapter last year because of her fine scholarship record and her outstanding service rendered to the school. During the week a box car on the Orem line, in an unaccountable way, became opened and a half a car of emDty cartridge shells were scatter ed along the tracks between Provo and Salt Lake. Several sacks of the shells were picked up by local residents. Marshall Clem Turner notified the federal authorities In Salt Lake who are Investigating the case. Mrs. Rulon Free of Los Angeles left for her . home Monday after spending several days in Lehl guests of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Anderson and other relatives.- She was , accom panied to Salt Lake by Mrs. Arnold Schalappy of Missoula and Mrs. Abe Anderson. The ladies spent the day visiting at the homes of Joseph Anderson An-derson and Charles D. Gray. Mrs. Lula Anderson and Mrs. Vera Trane accompanied Mrs. Schlappy to Salt Lake on Wednesday when she left for her home in Missoula, Montana. These two ladies came to Lehl on account of the death of their mother, Mrs. Mary Maudsley. vi-:M - Lehi Man Hurt In Canyon Truck-Car Crash Horace Bone of this city suffered serious injuries in an automobile-truck automobile-truck collision Sunday at 3:30 p. m, in Spanish Fork canyon, when the truck he was driving crashed into a parked car, one half mile east of Old Tucker on Highway 50. The parked car belonged to Will-lam Will-lam Palfreyman, of Springville, who had stopped on the highway while he got out to look for his wife, who was on the hillside searching for pine nuts. The right front wheel of the 1836 model coupe was left on the paved portion of the highway, where the truck, driven by Mr. Bone, struck it and careened 143 feet across the road, going over the embankment. The truck rolled over and came up on its wheels In the borrow pit. Mr. Bone, the only one injured, was taken to Helper for medical treatment. Charges were filed against Palfreyman Pal-freyman for not having a driver's license and for Illegal parking on a highway. Paul Price, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Price, sustained a fracture o'f the small bone in his right fore arm at the Pleasant Grove football game. He was taken Immediately to the Lehl hospitlal by Principal Adamson. The fracture was reduced and Paul returned to Pleasant Grove to see the finish of the game. He took part in the deer hunt Saturday, Satur-day, shooting two deer without the aid of his right arm. Harold Colledge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Colledge, had his right elbow quite badly broken and displaced dis-placed while playing football with a group of his boy friends Sunday. The arm was set by Dr. Houston. An X-ray taken Monday morning showed a perfect set so that no complications seem likely. Union1 Meeting, projects of the Quorums of the Melchisedek Priesthood were adopt ed. The Class Instruction commiw tee urges that all priesthood members mem-bers review the "Message of the First Presidency as, given at the recent General' Conference. The Miscellaneous committee recommends recom-mends that each quorum have a social before next Union Meeting.
