' Lehi Seminary Ready For 0pening As our schools are opening Sep tember (, we desire to call your attention to our seminary courses. which are being offered for the religious education of our boys and girls- There never was a time when we needed religious education "is we do at the present. The great men of our nation acknowledge this and realize that if this nation endures, en-dures, It will be because of the religious training our boys and girls receive. Brother Alvah Fitzgerald our new instructor, has had eight years of teaching experience, having hav-ing taught five years at Kanab and three years at Shelley, Idaho. He received his Masters Degree at the Brigham Toung University in 1928 ad comes to us highly recommended. We trust that the people of the Lehl Stake will be loyal to our seminary work as they have been in the past, doing all they can to make it one of the beat In the church STAKE BOARD OF EDUCATION Alpine School District Valued Val-ued at Million & Quarter Indebtedness Placed At 1599,00a Table 8te Out Detailed Costs For Whole District The annual financial report of the Alpine School District for the 19S1- 32 fiscal year places the districts total value at 11,238,471.22 or slight- ly less than one and one-quarter million dollars. This include h value of all school buildings, furnl-ture, furnl-ture, fixtures, equity In tax sales, bank deposits, etc. Liabilities of the district are placed at $599,238.10. Of this amount bonds outstanding are $408,000 and anticipation bonds $183,000. The balance to make up the total Is accrued Interest. Yearly Operation Cost - The statement of receipts and disbursements shows a total ex- j penditure of $328,828.34 for the year. About half of this amount goes for 1 Instruction. , Table Givee Details j The Per Capita Cost statement gives a complete picture of the district dis-trict by schools and departments j and gives the taxpayer a very definite defi-nite idea of where his dollars are bolng spent. Other separate tables and items in Recent Storms Bring Lots of Moisture The recent storm has been rather unusual for August and has brought an excess amount of moisture. Wednesday morning the test at the Pumping station showed that 1:47 inches had fallen. The rain storm Friday brought 1:07 inches of rain. This was the largest storm that we have ever had in one day, since a government test has been taken at the Pumps Mr. Fred Shelton stated- During the month of August lust the report further explaining the district's business Is given. Sunday School will be l held until 11 p. m. and all will re assemble from their classes Into the main Auditorium for the Fast Meeting. Sunday School will not be dismissed, the meeting being just a continuation. The sacrament will be taken care of In the fast meeting. All members of the stake are urged to take note of this change and be present at Sunday School and Fast Meetlnif next Sunday. The meet ing will continue until about 12:30 p. m- HALF-HOLIDAYS CLOSE WEDNESDAY The last weekly half-holiday was yesterday. Next Wednesday the business houses will remain open during the entire day. The holiday holi-day season has been during the months of June, July and August, and merchants and business men have enjoyed outings and pleasure trips during these afternoons- FIRE CAUSED BY LIGHTNING LIGHT-NING THREATENS PROPERTY The Lehl Fire department made a quick run to the home of Mr-and Mr-and Mrs. Orson Gorfrey, west cf Lehl, Saturday evening about 7. r. m wtiora a transformer near the Godfrey home was on fire and sparks were flying In all direct- fhroatATifncr to destroy a large stack of hay and other property close by- A streak of lightning struck the transformer and the electricity set fire to the transformer.
