Fighting off joining a zombie can be a J drag. The real challenge nes in figuring out the difference dif-ference between normal peo-, peo-, and actual zombies. Shaun of the Dead makes ,5 simple: Zombies try to eat you- Shaun (Simon Pegg) is nur average guy in an aver-"jge aver-"jge world. He hangs out with friends that don't always like jach other. He drinks too uch. He can't seem to do anvthing right when it comes to romance. And he's ,-tuck in middle management. manage-ment. He shuffles through hi life day after back-break-day moaning about his .Vowing to break free, and nying not to be dragged down by his best friend Ed 'ick Frost). Ed embodies everything jut is wrong with Shaun's life and Liz (Kate Ashfield) is determined for Shaun to see it. Unfortunately Shaun tally sees very little, even as the world slowly collapses around bim into a hellish nightmare of zombie neighbors. neigh-bors. Finally, when Shaun realizes what's happened, he 3ust find his mom, step-dad, Liz and her flat mates, before he zombie hoards drag them into their undead nightmare. And so they head to the only place that makes sense, the pub. This movie defies definitions. defini-tions. It is as gory as any zombie movie I've ever seen and I laughed my guts out as people lost their guts through -the entire movie; it is a horror drama comedy romance - I am not kidding. It is hilariously horrific with al the right deadpan humor "hat a good zombie movie needs. If you love being grossed out and laughing till you cry this movie will not appoint. Just remember, Wt get bitten. National Lampoons Gold Diggers Rating; turkey Sniff glue. Snort Smarties. Smoke dandelions. Listen to pdka music. You will lose 'Wer brain cells by doing yofthe above activities for Wir whole life than you will by watching this movie wo nours. What was I :lB H ityRst-;r' fllAW ntiai c;' n a flnor I n me n" . vw- saying? Oh right... the movie review. This movie is horrible. horri-ble. It is bad. I would rather watch The Cat in the Hat twice with my eyes taped open than watch this movie once. About 20 minutes into the movie I could see I was on a boat that was quickly sinking sink-ing and while I watched it to its trite and sickening end, I decided to watch how many people got a clue and took a lifeboat to the lobby. Calvin and Leonard (Will Friedle and Chris Owen) play two of the dumbest people peo-ple who ever walked the earth and decide, after robbery rob-bery failed, to marry two nmnnrwiYiJwrrrnn n nnnrrmnni truly old women (Louise Lasser and Renee Taylor) and get their money. Little do they realize that the old women are going to kill them for their insurance policies. After the marriage there is an embarrassingly painful scene of the marriage night; followed closely by scenes of attempted murders on both sides. The women try a poisonous snake, the men try Vaseline in the shower, and the women try poisonous poison-ous lemonade. Then the movie takes an even more horrendous turn when the four of them decide to team up and kill the rich uncle. I can't imagine what these actors received to be in this movie. Not only is the writing writ-ing horrible, but the circumstances circum-stances the characters find themselves in are gross, humiliating, degrading and disgusting. There is nothing funny about this movie. In the end I counted 12 people who left the theater before the movie was over; I only wish I had been one of them.
